Essendon rely too much on pressure and the whole team being 'mentally on' than a sound game plan strategy.

Sure they look good when the team is playing at full throttle defensively and run & gun offensively when it comes off, but you can't rely on that week after week, especially against the better teams.

Issues around personnel and gameplan/structure.

Still need more bigger bodied inside mids...Shiel is a 'big bodied mid' but isn't necessarily an inside contested ball winner...his strength is as first receiver and bursting away from a contest.

Questionable game plan as well...can't just rely on run & gun quick breaks to kick winning scores.
