It seems evenly matched on paper except for the 2nd & 3rd Demons tall forwards/Bulldog defenders.
Bulldogs have to win the midfield battle convincingly to win this. If we just break even Melbourne will have a clear edge in their forwardline.

If the roof is open and the ground is dewy that advantages us, given the Demons marking power in the F50 and their intercept marking power in the back half.

Who?

This thread is a classic, usually you get sh*t talking from club's fighting for top spot about how good they are and putting down the oppositon - Melbourne and Footscray supporters are so damaged we're sh*t talking ourselves down and looking for excuses before the games even been played.

I've been looking forward to this one since after we beat the Tigers and I reckon the players have too. Should be a cracker hope the two sides put on a show and hope we can actually go to the game. Would be a shame to see 1 vs 2 played in from of an empty stadium. Also I hope Melbourne supporters turn out I know we usually don't like going to Docklands but get there and support the team.
On current form I think the Lions and Dogs are ahead of us. Forward-line hasn't gelled with recent changes, and we miss Viney a lot IMO.

Huge fortnight for us, I'd be stoked if we went 1-1.

I'm not confident at all of a victory but I hope we can challenge them.

Can't wait for this game but it will be such a shame if it's played in an empty stadium. Reckon the Doggies will win by a few goals.

I cant see why people who have been vaccinated cant attend. Or possibly a government scare tactic.

Otherwise what's the point of getting the jab?

That's fair. But realistically how many people would attend if only vaccinated folks were allowed? A few thousand max, surely. You'd also need all the service workers vaccinated too, and that's not super likely.

missing this game: Wood,English,Dunkley,Gardiner,Martin,Treloar,McClean  all in theyre best 22
not in theyre best and are playing atm.. Sweet,R.Smith,Hannan,McNeil,Young,Scott,Cordy

English should be back, Gardiner is a battler and Cordy is a decent replacement, Hannan is a decent replacement for McLean and Martin is 34 and a half so injuries are not surprising and it's a major risk to be relying on him. Scott has played every game and McNeil has missed only one so they sound "best 22" to me.

I'll give 3 x best 22 out - Wood, Dunkley and Treloar vs Viney and Tomlinson - so you're probably down Treloar nett.

Yeah I'd have Lions and Dogs ahead on current form but when you said very clearly behind a few teams I thought you were gonna start throwing in teams like Cats Port and WCE

Dees have less flaws. Dogs a bit more powerful. Dees midfield size is a good matchup for the dogs who normally beat the crap out of everyone in there.

Gawn can neuter the dogs (desex) a bit with great tapwork although English can be a good centre bounce foil with his spring and length.

dees amazing with protecting the air down back. Dogs best for marks inside 50 in the comp.

Kosi is an X factor the dogs don’t have.

the dees have amazing wings for outlet kicks.

The dogs have the best half back ball users in the comp. it’s a tantalising matchup

Salo should be back and he has had a good year

One more factor to add is the introduction of Weightman, and constantly improving form of smalls like JJ and McNeil, does add an extra element to our attack that the Dees may have trouble handling. Jetta in poor form this year and not many others who can shut them down.

Gawn is the one who worries me most. Huge test for Sweet

Jetta wont play with Salem back. Our backline will be Lever, May, Petty, Salem, Rivers, Hunt with Langdon and Brayshaw dropping back to assist.

How good's South Australia?

Friday night top of the ladder game of the year and we won't have a crowd because they let the virus out of their crappy ineffective hotel quarantine.

Umps shit themselves amongst the ferals and screw the Dees out of 4 points last week too.

Should fine and dock points from Adelaide and Port Adelaide, its only fair.

Just Adelaide ****ing Melbourne twice in 2 weeks lol

Spot on

I think Dogs have a small edge on our midfield, I think our defence has a small edge on the doggies FWDs.

Result depends on our forward line, it hasn't clicked all at once all season long but TMac, Fritsch and Kozzie are all capable of having dominant games; Weid has also shown he can do it too (although rarely). Spargo and ANB usually deliver decent performances for small forwards but can also be prone to very quiet games. perhaps Trac or Oliver can rotate in a kick a few as well. I do think the dogs are somewhat exploitable here, although they so look stronger than last year, but whether our forward line is good enough or consistent enough to do so remains to be seen.
