Nah I hate to say it but the blues won that fair and square.

The fact that it was a contender for the worst umpired afl game I’ve ever seen is a separate issue. There were appalling decisions all over the place.

That doesn’t take away from how convincing Carlton were as the better team tonight, particularly in the third quarter.

Three times Eleni called HTB against you guys after disposing of the ball was atrocious. Was hoping a Carlton player handed the ball back after the second time.

The two “high contacts” against us for brutal, but fair bumps were just as bad. Few holds against Larkey not paid, just as many for McKay. Very average umpiring

I agree. I don’t feel that those calls changed the outcome of the game, but the sheer frequency with which there was no basis for umpiring decisions tonight should send alarm bells ringing at afl house. It’s the kind of stuff that has a huge impact on supporters confidence in how the game is adjudicated. Bad umpiring performances should be held to account in a transparent way.

Yeah, as frustrating as they are and the club bias in the moment, no calls or lack of were the reason for the out come. Just horrible to watch and can only imagine how frustrating it is as a player. Two free kicks in the first 15 seconds of the game set the tone. Over adjudicated and incredibly inconsistent

Pissed myself when the ump got bowled over
I didn't at first after the goal it resulted in but upon replay I couldn't help myself - fair play to her though, she got cleaned up by a 100kg plus bloke and got up and kept officiating. I swear I remember a couple times where male umps were bowled over and hammed it up like they were hit by a bus.

She looked pretty stressed out - I reckon she knew she's gonna cop it this week lol

She called it as it is meant to be called. They were supposed to be cracking down on players taking too long to get rid of it in the tackle.
Problem is, every other umpire cares more about their image, not the game

When Larkey did get a free for holding, he stopped and inadvertantly tunnelled Weitering. Eleni didn't see the officiating ump signal the free to Larkey holding and she then somehow paid a 50 against Larkey, then another and suddenly Weitering was having a shot at goal. Commentators said nothing...absolutely farcical umpiring. She hardly got a decision correct all night...both ways.
