Sadly, what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas.

Rayner needs a spell in the 2’s….7 touches today just incomprehensible.

It doesn't help the entire centre cohort when the Lions ruck: is thrashed by every other 2nd team's ruck, 90% of taps won go straight to the opposition & 90% of kicks are of the kick'n'hope variety.

The Lions are going to put a spin on the loss but it is same 'ol same 'ol in 24 .. not being able to blunt / frustrate / limit damage when an opposition gets an inevitable run on. Fagan has been really good for the Lions (and probably still is IMO) but doesn't seem to know what to do strategy-wise when the opposition gets on a roll. Just can't play well for 2½ quarters at this level and expect results.

And Coleman.

We can bounce back, sure. I don't think our window's closed yet, but still, after getting so close last year, it's been a very disappointing season.

That said, Collingwood's inaccuracy flattered us in the GF.
True and also Berry / Hipwood deciding not to turn up for the GF didn't help either.

We get 5 Acls back next year + top 5 f/s + first round academy players

Rebuilding on the run! How good are academies?
The Lions academy started in 2010 and currently has 220 players (starting at U12). The academy has produced 7 senior AFL players (that I have heard of) and assuming 200 players per year - that is a return of 0.25%. I suspect other club's academies have the same general statistics. It makes you realise the calibre of the players in senior AFL.

Danster must be creaming his pants right now.
I'm actually more offended at this comment than anything I've read today. 'right now'.

Nah it wasn't all of last year, or the year before, or all of this year so far, but yes 'right now'.

Come on mate, let's not pretend that 7 touches from a 13 touch per game player changes the narrative at all.

Gold Coasts first pick last year was always going to be eaten up but that didn't stop them from extracting maximum value for it.

Yes, and we still have our first round pick to utilise.

You are aware Gold Coast traded their second round pick last year for picks 40 and 42 (i.e. points), which somewhat proves my point.

And that would still have been a better move than trading it for Ryan

I mean given the pick we gave away will likely be inconsequential, the question comes down to whether he deserves a spot on our list which I could really go either way with. I think he's an OK to good VFL footballer at best, so not the worst back up in the world I guess.
