Looks like Sloane voted on impact, not looking at stats.

That is how our group called it, and not one of us looked at stats.

Statwatcher v Footywatcher

Neale had a great game, but those three made the most impact.

Lions really had no passengers. Every player stood up when they had to. Only player you could suggest had an off day was Charlie. But even he did some good things, tackles and key contest wins.

There was no "Billy Frampton" in this Lions side.

You can see this Lions side winning a few flags because of the depth across all lines.
I thought Neale was better early and visibly just noticed him everywhere, but Ashcroft came home stronger and also kicked that brilliant goal.

AFC rating problems confirmed.
I thought those 3 all had a bigger impact on the game. Ashcroft was consistent across the whole game, Ah Chee looked dangerous all day and was involved in a heap of scoring chains, while Lohmann gave them a massive spark when the game was on the line in the 1st half.

Didn't look at stats until post game, but before that thought Ashcroft and Ah Chee were the top two players on the ground. Had Neale in there during the 1st half, but he faded a bit (fair enough given the injury he's carried for a month).

Mutineer should be given credit for his judgement in pushing Lohmann the showman during his draft season.
Going to be a good draft this year for the Rebels too, I think all of Sam Lalor (mid/forward), Ollie Hannaford (small forward/mid), Jack Ough (tall mid/utility) and Jonty Faull (KPF) will all be off the board by the 2nd round, later/rookie chances in order I think Floyd Burmeister KPF/Ruck), Rhys Unwin (small forward/mid), Harry Charleson (small/medium defender) Flynn Penry (Ruck) all have AFL attributes.

Any of those that don't get drafted in the later/rookie category especially Flynn Penry i'd like us to have a look at with the new SANFL player rules being looked at currently. Matty Lloyd (192cm athletic defender) and Will Rantall 192cm defender) as well for the SANFL team

Will be interesting to see if the media hound Sydney as complete failures - ala Adelaide after 2017

Sydney clearly on top all year, the perfect route to the GF. No significant injuries (we did hav e a couple)

No excuses - and got completely dismantled from go to woe

I'm not sure we were labelled complete failures, but rather failures on the day. The power stance did open us up to criticism on that. But so far Sydney are absolutely having the same and more questions asked on failing again on the big stage. I doubt the coaching group will blame the players mental weakness and organise a pseudo-scientific camp to alter them though. So if you're expecting theat type of industry wide criticism, you'll be disappointed.

Not sure I agree, Brisbane players were running on top of the ground whereas Sydney players looked like they had lead in their shoes.
Sure it wasn’t straight line speed , but the ability to get past 2 to 3 opponents. Neale and Ashcroft did this often .
that was after the game was killed at HT

I know Neale is probably their best player, but how do we feel about him forcing himself back on for the last 5 minutes? By his own admission he could barely walk. He'd done the hard yards, got them into a position to win, and honestly could've sat next to the coach on the bench but demanded someone else come off so that he could limp around for 5 minutes to be there when the siren went.

I dunno, for sure you'd want to be on field at that moment, but when big O has missed the game entirely, it seemed pretty self centred to me. Maybe he's earned it though.

I think if anyone at that club has earnt the right it’s him, not as if he has 3 flags under the belt.

He's absolutely earned it! I wouldn't care if he just sat on the ground

Senior players have every right to pull rank at that moment IMO. Might be a touch self-centred rather than selfish but he's earned it.

I reckon the captain of the club deserves to be on the ground in the last few minutes when the game was already over at half time
