Re: Is Daisy in trouble?

I saw the incident, reckon he could get a week and just a week with his record. It is in the 1 week to reprimand category all things considered, was a love tap IMO.

Re Damian Barrett, he has about ass much credibility on Collingwood matters as Caroline Wilson, that is none!

caroline annoys me with her clear collingwood hatred. shes loving this eddie thing on the radio at the moment:rolleyes:

As favs said, he needs 200 points to get 1 week.

IMO, it was silly and deserves a week but it shouldn't activate 200 or more points which means with a good 5yr record and a first offence hopefully Daisy can escape with a reprimand.

Having said that, you can just about guarantee the MRP will make sure it activates beyond 200 points to ensure he is handed down a suspension one way or the other.

She has been venemous ever since 1999 when she feared Eddie could help build Collingwood to what it is today and probably before that too.

Re: Daisy to miss QB.

No Swan or Thomas next week, Melbourne an outside chance?

I'd say if Thomas misses they'll become more than an outside chance. With he, Jolly and Swan all out I'd almost have it at 50/50. Take 3 players of that quality out of any team and it makes things tough its just like Geelong losing Ottens, Johnson and Bartel or Fremantle losing Sandilands, Barlow and then Fyfe on top!

What Favs said is right i guess what it hinges on though is how they rate it. It'll be for striking so to get 200+ points it needs to be graded reckless, medium impact and high. Haven't seen it so how would others rate it?

It is not a Collingwood matter, it is an AFL matter. And if anyone truly believes that Thomas won't get a week for this, they are completely deluded.

I would put him on a plane with the others and give him an Arizona fitness injection for the back half of the year.

Re: Daisy to miss QB.

Hope it's only one. Don't want him copping two matches as it will mean he will miss three weeks (including bye).

But then again.... Judd and Pavlich?

1 week if he's lucky. 2 weeks won't surprise me.

pretty stupid thing to do actually.

i think he'll be very lucky not to have it rated 3 weeks downgraded to 2.
as mentioned, just a dumb thing to do. the result was a cut lip to jones so that will come into it.

** i watched thomas for the 1st 2 mins last night. jones doing his best to piss thomas off, with elbows and pushes to throw him off balance. and about 4 times the little tiprat would also come in for his piece too. where was his man then ?

Always love Eddie's comment about the Malthouse/Buckley coaching situation.

Q: When did you think the Malthouse/Buckley combination would work?
A: The instant Caroline Wilson said it wouldn't

Re: Is Daisy in trouble?

It's nothing to do with 1 week 2 week ect...

We have a points system in the MRP.

There imo are only two options in the Thomas:

1) It's graded as Reckless, Medium impact and High contact

This gives 225 points and with his 5yr good record it will be reduced to 1 week. (113 points)

2) It's graded as Reckless, Low impact and High contact

This gives a 125 points so he will get off. (62.5 points)

Unless he gets told it was behind play or high impact or even intentional he will get 1 week at the most.

Intentional contact, low impact & High contact.

I'd say that will be about 200 points. 1 week for early plea and good record.

I haven't seen the indicent but if he deliberately makes contact to his face it's intentional not reckless. Reckless contact would mean we could plea it down to a reprimand.

Was the contact hard enough to constitute a strike, baring in mind Judd on Pavlich & Waite back kick to the goolies were deemed not sufficient force to constitute a strike?

225 points for Intentional contact, low impact and high contact. So just the 1 week again.

Only way he can get 2 weeks is if he get over 400 points which is impossible, it's got to be high contact, high impact and intentional.

Considering Jones played on and has no damage it's impossible for it to be graded like that.

So it's one or none for Thomas.

Thanks Favs. I agree with this and we can only hope it gets graded as reckless over intentional or not severe enough to warrant a striking charge.

225 points - 25% for early plea - 25% for 5 year good record=113 points

The other option is that it's seen as behind play, although considering Campbell Brown wasn't assessed as behind play I find it hard to believe Thomas' will be.

They no longer have the behind the play classification so he doesn't have to worry about that.

Having now seen the hit I personally think they'll go with reckless, because they very rarely class charges as intentional unless its a huge hit way behind the play ala Brown and Hocking. I just didn't think Daisy's was anywhere near as intentional and malicious as those two hits.

Considering he has a clean record I think they'll err on the side of him being a clean player and not intentionally striking Jones. I'd assume they'll go with low impact and high contact as well which makes it a level 2 offence. That equates to 125 points that can be reduced to 62.5, making him ineligible for the Brownlow but free to play next week.

The beauty of having a clean record is the absolute most he can get is one week. Because even if its graded intentional he can contest that rating at the tribunal and still receive the good behaviour discount of 25%, so even if he loses it would go from 225 points down to 168.75.

Edit: Just researched Brown's hit on Ward and found that it was graded as reckless, which is probably good news for Dale.

Can you tell me when it happened?? I haven't seen it and I'd like to see for myself.

Nah sorry mate I saw it on 7 news. Maybe try on the AFL website at some stage tomorrow either way though it'll be replayed ad-nauseum over the next two days, especially if he get's off, so you'll definitely get a chance to see it.

As soon as he is cited tomorrow (which is guaranteed, even if he only gets a reprimand) the Collingwood website will post the video, they have done this the last few weeks (Ball case, Leeroys case), so until then, you will probably just have to wait.

Hopefully the MRP go light on him and he gets points ranging in the 100-200 area, as then he will probably get a reprimand due to his good record and early guilty plea.

If he does miss a game though, he has no one to blame but himself, unlike the Ball and Brown cases, there's not much doubt in Daisy's guilt here, unfortunately.:(

No it will be grade 1...

and will get 4 activation points negligent, low impact, high. Campbell Brown's was graded as reckless  Daisy's is not reckless, was just a bit silly.

so 125 - 25% - 25% 70.31 points towards future, and will be available to play
