Does anyone sense possible complacency this week. I really hope not as this is a crucial game in deciding top 4 spots.
I thought the last two games against the Suns and Dees would be more a place where complacency would be a real concern then when you are coming up against the side that is on top of the ladder.

I rate next week's game against Freo as a bigger danger game than this for that reason, we will play at our near our best this week, and we will "come to play", of that I have no doubt.

Thanks Matty. You are always a good source of optimism.

I think the reason i personally feel flat is the bye weekend and length of time between games.

Also subconsciously the holiday pics but that recharge of batteries will do wonders for the players.

i will be pumped by sat arvo and am sure the players will be too

Yeah I don't know how the bye will affect us either and West Coast have had a 9 day break so they should be rested enough but not rusty either. How the Eagles got a Thursday game, playing Carlton after a 6 day break, before the game against us is beyond me. Very lucky.

That said we've had a very easy few weeks playing Gold Coast, Melbourne and then the bye so we should be fresh and ready to jump out of our skins. We've got the ability, it's just a matter of turning it on at the right time and coming to play.

Really pissed off. My reserved seats will be vacant due to a stupid f&$)(?g wedding that I must attend. Faarr canal!

The age reports that Nic Nat and Cox will be huge challenges, no shit Sherlock! They'll be a handful for any side, but the bigger the are the harder they fall I say. Our advantage is our youth, endeavor, and commitment... In Bucks I trust.

You guys see Shaw on AFL360?

They asked him about Swan's trip

Deadpan he answers "Didn't even know he was contesting it, looked like a trip to me"

Aside from the fact it was hilarious - good on Heath for not just rolling out a cliche !

FWIW i'd have challenged it as well, trying to maintain Swan's good record and the inherent 25% discount that comes along with it!

Heater's always good value, in fact was pretty subdued on 360 if anything!

Waters comes back in, but they lose Schofield for two weeks due to a hamstring.
And although they (the media) are saying Butler will miss, my source says he should be right to go.

I'm still trying to get my source to tell me who he thinks Selwood will go to.
I'll be seeing him tomorrow morning,so I'll ask him again.
Stay tuned.
I look forward to hearing your news! Opposition clubs have seemed to have tagged Thomas a fair bit lately.

In- Reid, Toovey, Shaw
Out- Young, Buckley, Didak

And as far as im concerned this is Harry's and Dawes' last chance

Think Marley Williams defenitly deserves his place in the side, doing his job well.

Hopefully weve switched on and will be ready to play, the first game after the bye isnt neccesarily always a happy hunting ground for sides

Spoke to my mate today and he said Selwood will more than likely tag Swan.
Though he did say it probably wont be a hard tag, just a run with role.
No offence but can i ask how your mate knows? I personally think swan is the hardest bloke to tag in our side and that would be a mistake by the eagles. I think they should tag a Thomas or any of our younger players.

However, it appears the tag my start on swan and change, if required.

By the way, i don't expect you to fully give your source if you can't and i do enjoy people that genuinely have inside info on these forums.

It seems as if the lesser of the two Selwoods (Adam) will miss against us, meaning the Eagles will actually lose 2 best 22 players going into this game (Schofield is the other one).

I stick to the line that I can't see us losing unless something goes terribly wrong on the day.

100% agree, not being arrogant but confident that we will win, we've been in good form and WC don't play well in Melbourne. Won 1 of their last 9 at the G, and we haven't lost to them since rd 2 2007, haven't lost to them in Melb since 2003, and not at the G since 1995.

You can't tag Swan, that is a good result if true.
Selwood doesn't tag anymore - though he may get a match up

Akin to what Daisy did to Dangerfield - you'd hardly call it a tag - just a good old fashioned one on one battle

Swan's advantage is his power off the mark and his canny ability to get forward and kick goals.

The Eagles principally rely on 6 players for the majority of their grunt (clearances, contested and tackling) work - Priddis, Kerr, Selwood, Shuey and of course vaunted Nic Nat/Cox combo.

Kerr and Priddis are not as effective with their disposal as either Selwood and Shuey - these are the two boys from the Coast we need to put the most work into - Selwood has become very dangerous around the goals this year and Shuey continues to impress - certainly those two boys have stepped it up again in a similar vein to our two young guns - should be a fascinating battle there.

Just on the midfield debate - it's probably too close to call, but i do think we have more grunt (assuming Pendles misses) and depth than they do - what's more our boys are more dangerous around the goals. The top 4 at WCE have snagged 26 goals vs 40 from our top 4 (Swan Sidey Thomas and Blair) (that's not even including majors Wellers 8 and Beamer's contribution of 7). To me Wellingham has really found consistency compared to last year - and lets not forget he was inspirational last year in the Qualifying against the Eagles.

In the rucks it goes without saying that the Coast even the ledger Nic and Coxy with 21 majors vs Jolls and Dawes 10.

Where i do worry is the ability of Waters and Hurn to hurt us on the rebound - both need tight checking as if allowed to play they can and will cause havoc. Gaff provides the outside link and with his sublime disposal needs minding also - keeping this elusive kid to 20 touches will be paramount, Matt Rosa is another who demands respect.

I expect both defences to dominate on both sides - weather and swirly winds will assist in that regard.

Just on the time slot as much as i hate the twilight - it is with our friends from the West in mind that they schedule us at this time.

Maybe we put goldsack and Sinclair on waters and hurn.

Not sure about other matchups. I will leave this to the experts like Mattys123
