Not sure how anyone is confident. Optimistic, yes, but confident, no.

I'm confident based on a few things:

  • MCG
  • Good Ins better than Outs
  • More potent attack
  • Season on the line
  • Losing three H&A games rarely happens for us
  • Haven't played for two weeks (well rested). Yes Crows are too.
  • Playing for Maxwell
  • Will be fired up.
  • Crows are overrated.

Although I am optimistic about this game, I had a dream (maybe nightmare depending on how you look at it) last night that Collingwood lost by 61 points. Although that could just be due to the fact that I lost on Saturday for school footy (hopefully).

I think if we stick to Bucks game plan we will fall into the Crows hands and eventually get picked apart by a more experienced side. Hopefully Bucks is on his game and will need to be as there may be a few holes to plug. With some more fire power up forward I hope Buck's simplifies things and gives us a chance.

Are you a prophet?

- Pendles BOG.
- Caff holds Danger to 20 disposals at 60% efficiency.
- Keefe holds Jenkins goalless.
- Cloke 4 goals.
- Elliot mark of the year.
Reid to hold Walker goal less.
Frost to run ring around Jpod.
Keeffe to stop big sauce scoring when forward.
Williams to hold out Betts.
Let's get the defence right for once.

Jenkins, Podsiadly and Walker will really stretch our backline and they have the crumber in Betts in there as well. Their forwards will kill our backline, but like most games it will be about getting the ball out of the middle and using at effectively going forward. They also have us covered in the ruck as well.

We havn't been able to use the ball well going forward for a very long time now, that's where I think we will lose this game, in the same fashion we lost last time we played them.
More reason to play Reid back from the start but that won't happen because our coach doesn't understand that.

The fact that you continue believing that Buckley is too offensively minded despite all the evidence pointing to the contrary is quite mind-boggling.

Clean, precise delivery into the forward line will win this game for us.
Oh, and straight kicking for goals.
If we can reverse the trend lately and kick more goals than points I will be very happy.
Hopefully Cloke marks his first opportunity and kicks truely.
It would do his and the teams confidence wonders.

We'll see today. 74% want Reid forward. We will learn.
Whether Reid plays forward or back does not show whether he is offensively or defensively minded. The fact his team is so hard to score against (3rd hardest in the league), but struggles to score would suggest he is most definitely a "defence-first" coach.

Pumped for this game. It basically is a final so I have no doubt the boys will be fired up. Get along to the game pies fans and get around the boys. If you're half thinking of going and can get there then do it. We have added some much needed spark to the side with Elliott, Martin, Broomhead and Reid. Frosty and Keeffe will have their hands full down back but these are the games that make you as a player. Goldsack will play back as well, where he belongs. We've got the capability to kick a winning score but as usual this game will be won in the middle. Thompson out is a big win for us, he's a star. Our mids need to get down and dirty today. Beams needs to get back to his top form, plenty of clearances and then pushing forward for a snag or 2. Pendles will do what he does best but it's going to be guys like Adams, Kennedy, Sidebottom, Young, Blair etc who need to step on up and get us over the line. Great test for the improving Witts today against big Sauce Jacobs. White needs to be up and about today.

I believe the week off will have rejuvenated the lads and they'll come out breathing fire today. Winning the contested footy will have been a big focus over the past week or so. If the passion and intent is there the scoreboard will take care of itself. It's time for action.

Go pies.

Huge game of football today with so much on the line for us and the Crows. Whoever wins has a huge chance to be playing finals football in September. Personally I think the top 7 is done and the Gold Coast are gone without Ablett now, so it comes down to us and the Crows to secure that last finals spot. A win today would put us in a healthy position to remain in the top 8 for the rest of the year, but if the Crows win then we'll be bundled out of the 8 on percentage by the end of the round with some matches coming up as well.

However it's not only just about finals football, but it's also about how we'll respond from our recent poor form. I have big expectations that the side will demonstrate a massive response against the Crows, because if they don't I really can't see any improvements for the rest of the year. We're a better team than we're showing at the moment, but our confidence is low and it needs to be regained starting from today. I hope having the bye has allowed the players and the coaching staff to reflect on what has gone wrong and to try and fix the issues that are facing us at the present time. I think the inclusions of several players for this game could really galvanise the group into action.

In regards to the changes, all the inclusions are great in my opinion. It's wonderful to see Ben Reid back for the first time this year which is amazing considering I didn't think he would be missing so much of this season to start off with. I think the big man should start forward especially since our forward line has been deplorable so far this season. We had 49 inside 50s against Essendon and yet only kicked 5 goals for the whole game. Reid must start in the forward line because he'll be able to free up Cloke and Elliott significantly. Lachie Keefe returning is a no-brainer after being surprisingly dropped for the Essendon game. He did play poorly against the Crows back in round 9 but I hope he redeems himself today. Fantastic to see Elliott back in the side as well, we really missed his presence in our last two games. The inclusion of Kyle Martin is refreshing and deserving to say the least. I can't wait to see how he performs today and good to see Tim Broomhead given another opportunity to stamp his authority in the side.

When it comes to our exclusions in some way I'm almost happy to hear that Swan's decline has been a result of poor form through injury as opposed to just getting older, losing motivation and losing his pace which has been evident this year in his inability to break open from the centre with pace or from stoppages. Now this truly means that this injury can explain his average form this year. It's a relief that an injury has hampered the great man as opposed to something else all together. About time the club rests him up as opposed to continually playing him where his contribution is minimal. This should have happened a while ago and the club will claim he got hurt against Essendon, but it's pretty obvious that he's had persistent injury issues this year. In regards to the other exclusions, pity Luke Ball goes out but I think Adams can fill that void as being the in-and-under player for us and Toovey is a big loss as well.

The Crows forward line will stretch us but so a lot is riding on Frost and Keefe to play well today and potentially someone like Goldsack and Reid may need to go down back to counter their forwards, especially with Toovey out of the side now. Marley or Seedsman need to take on Eddie Betts as no other defender in our side can match him for leg speed. I remember Marley doing a stunning job on Eddie last year against Carlton so I have faith he can beat him again today. Losing Scott Thompson will hurt the Crows so we need to make the most of our opportunities to win the midfield battle. My guess is Macaffer will tag Dangerfield.

It's going to be a good contest and I have a good feeling we'll win this one by a couple of goals today and the Crows are a very inconsistent side with a poor record at the MCG in recent times. I'm feeling good about our chances. We've received plenty of criticism in the Herald Sun today, I'm sure our players are eager to redeem themselves after an insipid performance two weeks ago and we have some fresh faces in the side today.

I will be there despite the poor timeslot.

GO PIES!!! :D
