My Thoughts;
Both teams have been hit by injuries, and with both coming off a 6 day break, this game may get a bit scrappy in periods, especially late. The Dogs were dealt a blow during the week, with the loss of Hall, Higgins and Hudson to injury, while the Pies lost Darren Jolly, who underwent surgery on his troublesome knee, and who will be missing for a few weeks yet, although the impact is softened somewhat by the bye for the Pies next weekend.
The Dogs and Pies traditionally play their home and away games at Etihad Stadium, so it will be a welcome change for both teams to play at the home of football, the MCG.
Collingwood welcomes back Andrew Krakouer, and the understudy ruck in Cameron Wood, while Dayne Beams is this weeks unlucky player, although with rumours abound surrounding several players struggling after Monday's tough win, he still may get a reprieve.
The Dogs performance last week has been criticised, but it was only late in the game they let themselves down, missing key shots at goal and allowing Fremantle to finish stronger then them over the closing periods.
Adam Cooney has copped most of the blame, but the backline has to take as much blame, as they didn't exactly hold up their end of the deal late either.
As for the Pies, Mick Malthouse described the Essendon win as “the best performance of the season”, and while many saw it as the reigning champs doing just enough to win, it shouldn't be underestimated just how hard the Bombers are to beat at this stage of the season.
The standout performances of the match came from Pendlebury, Jolly and Cloke, yet it was the efforts of Wellingham, Reid, Toovey and Davis that had as much, if not more of an impact on the four quarter effort.
It will be interesting to see how the Dogs approach this game, it could be a real season turning game for them, or it could be just another game that sees them drop further down the table, after being rated so high by so many pre season.
The interesting factor this week could be the weather, with rain a near certainty during the afternoon and evening in Melbourne, it would we would be lucky to get away with no rain during the match. Which team that favours is undetermined, as both teams don't really have a heap of recent experience in wet conditions.
Player Focus;
CHRIS TARRANT
Many questioned whether Chris, when he returned to Collingwood could hold down a key defensive post, but the last 2 weeks have gone a long way to proven those doubters wrong.
His performance against arguably the best forward in the game, Jack Riewoldt, followed by maybe an even better defensive effort against both Hurley and Ryder on ANZAC day, surely has put any long term doubts to bed.
Yes, there are still question marks over whether his body can stand up over the whole season, but with the likes of Goldsack and Lachie Keefe as able backup in the VFL, we will be able to rest Tarrant at different stages in the season.
Anyway, with the injury to Nathan Brown, we should all feel blessed that Taz chose to come back to us, because without him we would have a serious problem down back at this very stage.
Tip;
Ultimately, the Dogs loss of 3 key players, adding to the others already missing makes it almost mission impossible against the rampaging Pies, and with no need to hold anything back with the bye coming up next week, you would expect Collingwood to leave everything on the park and run away clear winners here, although the wet conditions might keep it closer then most expect.

NEXT WEEKEND;
With both VFL and AFL teams having the bye next weekend, the players and staff will get a well deserved rest, with Senior Football Analyst at the club, Marcus Wagner stating “On Tuesday the guys are going out for a few country visits to Echuca. The footy department will give the boys off next weekend for a bit of R&R. It's only five rounds but you have to remember we were trekking in Arizona in mid Nov.
