So, how long before we look at trading for our next inside midfielder?

End of 2021, Patrick Cripps needs to be targeted as a RFA to come home to his family's football team. Hopefully we will have won our 5th flag and we will need to cover the retiring Shuey. His cousin has been the trail blazer in getting home - get some advice.

End 2020, Mitch Duncan becomes a UFA. If we don't land him, we sure as hell need to jack up the Geelong salary offering.

So a few reports with the picks:

7 news:
The Eagles will send picks No.14 and No.24 in this year's draft as well as their own first-round pick in the 2020 draft to receive the 25-year-old midfielder in return.
Further picks in the third and fourth rounds, and perhaps more future selections, are on the cards to be swapped between the two clubs

news.com.au
The deal reportedly involves West Coast’s No. 14 and No. 24 picks at this year’s national draft as well as the Eagles’ first round pick at the 2020 National Draft.
In a monster trade deal, The Eagles could also hand over the No. 33 pick at this year’s draft in exchange for a future Geelong draft pick.
The two clubs are also expected to agree to a pick swap later down the 2019 draft order.

Foxsports
AFL.com.au has reported the Eagles have agreed in principle to send two first-round picks and this year’s second-round pick (No. 24) to the Cats, along with a swap of later picks, in exchange for Kelly.

It is understood that West Coast has placed this year’s Pick 14 and 24 as well as next year’s first-round pick on the table for the 25-year-old, while Pick 33 could also find its way to Kardinia Park in the landmark deal.

The Age
The deal is expected to involve both West Coast's first pick this year (currently No. 14), their second pick this year (No. 24) and possibly their third pick (No. 33). The Eagles' future first-round pick is also set to be involved. Later selections could be shuffled between the clubs before a deal is finalised.

All sources pretty much saying the same thing. 33 could be involved, but possibly not.

This deal literally hinges on what these pick swaps are.

Good player - worried he's a little undersized to be geniune KPD, but he reminds me of Hunter. Competitor and very good by foot for a tall.

Should get he and Garcia, played together since school days and possibly earlier.
Really like both these guys, would be stoked if we could get them in.

Two of my favourites from this draft year.

Wouldn't be opposed to a mature age draftee wherever our first draft pick is. Immediate impact while in the window to add to Tim Kelly. Someone like a Liam Ryan or Harry Taylor would be nice, any of them out there?

Would be very happy to take Ben Sokol with our last pick in the main draft if we draft more than 2 (we're already committed to upgrading watson) and as always Jye Bolton as a roookie.

I must admit I completely forgot Watson was a rookie. Yes, upgrade him please. No big loss if Josh Smith isn't.

We are just fine to miss out on the top end of this and next years drafts
Don’t know if I would go that far. Midfielders under 25 are looking a little thin

Have a feeling it might involve our future 2nd or 3rd. Geelong might be planning on Ablett and Taylor calling it quits in 2020 and need the draft picks.

Or are there rules against trading multiple futures?

There are rules. With us trading out our future first we would have to be going into a positive points position trading in the future draft. So to trade out our second round pick we would have to trade in a first or to trade out our third we would need to trade in a second etc. If you Keep your first you can trade as many others from that draft as you like but if you trade your first in a future draft the above rules apply. Yes i know it's very technical and sticky.

I know that recruiters were worried about Riley’s lack of size for a midfielder. Add the knee injury, plus I’m not convinced he’d ace the interviews, could all together see him slide to our picks.

Fingers crossed!

Don't like that 33/36 swap. Bugger all difference points wise, but you just know some WA kid will slide and Geelong will nab him. Then we get to do this dance all over again.

That 33 is supposedly going to the Saints for Steven, so you don’t need to worry about Geelong pinching someone with it.

We have our future 1st in the deal already .
We cant trade anymore future picks thank god or clayton would have already

Geelong have 36 why dont they sent that to the saints

I dunno, just going off what’s being reported by Cleary. Saints are apparently paying some of Steven’s salary so they want a higher pick as compensation for that.
