Is it Clayton or Vozzo? I think we've been served another Vozzo s**t sandwich tbh.
Shame none of the WA talent on offer this year will be coming to us but I guess as long as we get Kelly

Yeah Vozzo just keeps letting us down time and again, look at all those unfavorable pick swaps over the past few years...

2016 wasn't bad - Venables, Rioli, Waterman, Watson, Rotham, Gorter(?)
2017 wasn't too bad - Ryan, Allen, Petrucelle, .........Ainsworth, Brayshaw
2018 - Xavier Oneill, Luke Foley, Bailey Williams...... and a little guy called Jarrod Cameron.
2019 - Tim Kelly...
2020 - Willie Rioli (the return)
Life's good, why so glum...

Brander was our first pick in 2017. I’m looking forward to Kelly kicking to Brander at CHF during 2020

I wonder if Carlton doesn't have the picks and depending on what we get back/keep in the Carlton trade, we could be in the market for Jack Martin at the right place.

I'm not in the camp of those that think he's an unrealised gun, but I think he'd be valuable in our side.

Like to see more of Brander. Venables could make a solid return?
still some likely players to come thru...should hold us over until we can get back into the trade/draft game?

From the horse's mouth - the final confirmation that everyone was happy and no-one hates anyone.

"Van Der Wielen said Kelly was thrilled that Geelong would secure enough picks to stock up on future stars.

Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir and football boss Peter Bell both met with Van Der Wielen last week but the Dockers were never really in the race for Kelly.

“Tim is a bit nervous because it’s not done until it’s done but he’s pretty comfortable with where it’s at.

“Tim will be quite happy Geelong are going to be rewarded. Tim wants Geelong to pick up 200-game players out of the picks they get and he can feel part of their resurgence. He hasn’t left them in the lurch. He has nothing against the Geelong footy club.”

The Kelly camp was adamant a deal should be brokered that was fair to both parties without Kelly having to threaten to enter the pre-season draft."

***************

Proof that everything else was speculation, and everyone moves on with no ill will. Perfect outcome.

Hah!!

I was right. He would've gone to the preseason draft. Not November draft like I was told.

Which just happened to coincide with Rawlings taking over as list manager...

Yeah I always just assume that all the good trades are done by the list manager and all the dodgy ones are done by the footy GM too

I totally agree. Williams, Edwards and ONeil could come good. Venables, Petch and Cameron go up a gear for Riolis spot. Rotham and Watson take sight at some aging defenders positions. All looks good to me. Bummer round one so far away.

Well he's back in the role temporarily this year isn't he?
How many crazy pick swap deals did we do before Rawlings was the list manager? Maybe I'm wrong but I can't think of any.
Seems fairly obvious that all those pick swap trades were heavily influenced by Rawlings.
Rawlings was just a smart operator in my opinion, he's a bigger loss than people think.

And also you seem to be conceding that this deal is on the dodgy side.

At this stage the recruitment of TK for the Cats is a draw. Things could change in future if the nail the pics but even they fail it would be a draw.

They literally knew of his issue regarding his family situation and his desire to stay home but still picked him up early and trumped us. From day one he was elite but from day one his main issues were at play.

They really missed out this year.

Think you've completely missed the sarcastic tone of Fivey's post.

We invented the pick swap . 6 + 45 for 11 + 28 + 49

We picked up sheed at 11 and karpany 28

So, how long before we look at trading for our next inside midfielder?

End of 2021, Patrick Cripps needs to be targeted as a RFA to come home to his family's football team. Hopefully we will have won our 5th flag and we will need to cover the retiring Shuey. His cousin has been the trail blazer in getting home - get some advice.

End 2020, Mitch Duncan becomes a UFA. If we don't land him, we sure as hell need to jack up the Geelong salary offering.
TRIGGERED

Anyways If you guys manage for 2 first rounders (Pick 14 + Pick 14-18) you guys absolutely gave Geelong a reaming.

My thought is you guys should go all in now and contend for the next 3 to 5 years with your older players in getting into their twlight zone (jjk, nic nat and shuey). Whoever you guys draft now probably wont make as much impact as Tim Kelly.

Tim Kelly will tear opposition apart unchecked. If they do tagged Kelly, Shuey or Yeo will go on a tear.

Food for thought anyways.

Took a swing at a starting 18 of players who are 25 or younger, and likely to be on the senior list next year (no MAllen, Mutimer, no Rioli).

FB: Nelson Barrass Cole
HB: Duggan Rotham Foley
C: O’Neill Venables Ah Chee
HF: Brander Allen Ryan
FF: Petch Waterman Cameron
R: Williams, Kelly, Sheed

Midfield is thin, can’t deny that, but the rest is set up beautifully. I think we’re ok for the future, regardless of what Geelong picks come back. Will be in an even better spot if Petch/Venables/Brander show signs of being able to be used in the centre line.

Gaff ?

Both clayton stepped in with vosso when rawlings left .

Last year it was rawlings with vosso 2ic
You do realise that Rawlings reported to Vosso?

And Vosso would've signed off every trade(and probably orchestrated given that is his whole background)?

Clayton would have **** all to do with this from a decision making point of view.
