He's pretty good at getting his hand to it but not so great at placing it to advantage. I think Richmond were 17th for clearances (differential not total) in 2011.
I don't really know much about his vertical leap. I think it was OK but ever since Brendan Lade took over both Graham/Browne tended to stay down and rarely leaped at the ball. I'm not sure what the logic was there.

I don't think there was ever a problem with Maric's effort. I think his problem was he seemed to be unsure of whether he should go in, stay down, wrestle, etc. Just looked unsure of himself.
nothing to be to upset about with this trade, gave up a nothing pick to get a nothing pick and a 200cm ruckmen in the event that, god forbid, anything happens to Jacobs. Lets no pretend we didn't all sit in the outer all year praying for no Rehnny type situations every time Sauce ran out. We're one injury away from being in real trouble. At 200cm he's at least a body that our midfield could work with in the event he's needed.
I still say the Maric saga was the biggest over reaction of all time, but we all have 20/20 vision now we see how the sub rule actually works.

Also, for people to come out and call him an oxygen thief is pretty poor form. Call it a dud trade or call him a spud footballer if you must but to have a go at the bloke himself, when he's done us no wrong, is pretty disgusting.

Actually there is, and its name is Sauce. I seriously hope that Graham can have a real go, but even if he turns into an A-grader he'll suffer the same problems as Griffin - opportunities.

thats the point sorely missed by most, good luck to him hope he makes most of second chance. he would have been best performed ruck at VFL this year...and guess where we and others will be looking for our reserve ruck option...I think your clubs rationale was ok
I was furious when I first heard about this trade, but the more I think about it, it starts to make some sense. He cost us basically nothing, and he's a backup and nothing more. The worst thing that can happen is that he gets delisted in 2 years. Big deal. A lot of people thought Leigh Brown was a spud, but after Collingwood traded for him he became important part of their premiership team.
We need a backup ruckman, albeit someone who is happy to spend most (if not all) of the season playing in the SANFL. They're not easy to come by. Most of them either aren't good enough (which is why they're already playing in the SANFL) or have delusions of grandeur (daring to dream of being 1st ruck and playing regular AFL football).
Graham comes to us on minimum wages and in the knowledge that he is nothing more than a "break glass in case of emergency" type player - should something happen to Jacobs.
We can't afford and don't need a high quality ruckman - Jacobs is capable of filling that role. We just need someone who is capable of doing the task to an adequate standard if our primary ruckman falls over. Graham fits the bill nicely.
