Angus Graham to Adelaide

Possibly it's hard to find a player who knows well and good that a lot of his year could be in the SANFL, and won't change regardless of his form. If he was struggling to stay on the list for next year at Richmond, instead of getting delisted, he's probably on a very low wage, as a genuine backup. Not a gap filler, but a backup.

For example, in soccer you don't send a backup keeper onto the pitch to go in the midfield or score goals.

I hope Gus gets a fair go in Adelaide. I believe that he will play well if he is given the opportunity. After Maric came over, he was pushed to the side and forgotten about at the Coburg Tigers. Ruckmen take a little bit longer to develop and I hope that he clicks and become a serviceable back-up ruckman for the Crows.

I wish him all the best!

I'm not going to patronise anyone and sugarcoat it. Graham's lack of intensity was deplorable in the last couple of years. The thing is, he actually has some tools. He can take a mark and is actually not a bad kick for goal.
The thing with him though, is that instead of taking time to develop like a lot of young talls do, he actually went backwards over the past two years. He is the classic case of looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane.
I actually wish him well. I hope he fires up for you guys.
Having said that, with pick 40 we will probably redraft Relton Roberts.

We only need 2 picks in the draft. So no it was surplus to our needs. Essentially got Graham for nothing.
I really don't get how people don't see this. We are screwed if Jacobs goes down without a genuine backup in Graham. We won't be using the picks anyway, and as you said, are basically getting him for free.

All clubs have ruckman like this on their list should their number one go down (heaven forbid).

I thought that was the case, so cheers for confirming. It isn't like we are bringing him in to be our number one ruck and to play every single game. At most, he'll play 3-5 games a season. I really don't get how people think you'll pick up quality for someone who will most likely be required for the bare minimum number of games in a season.

:D

I miss Relton Roberts. Like Darren Lehman with cricket, he gave hope to every unfit fat bastard out there who dreamed of playing AFL football. Unfortunately, unlike Darren Lehman, he was shithouse.

Relton got skills, just couldn't get him away from the hot dog stand.

Well, i must have watched the only 5 games angus graham played well in!

I reckon it must have been in the 2010 season, I watched a couple of richmond games and there was this dude who was everywhere, really mobile, taking grabs, getting a lot of kicks, I thought he must have been a tall defender since that's the role he looked to be playing, I was like wow, who's this talent I havent heard about, tried to find out his name from the commentators, but they didnt say it and I turned the game off.

Couple weeks later, watching another richmond game and the same dude was having another gun game. Found out he was a ruckman, which really suprised me given his mobility. Found out his name as well, Angus Graham.

Only hope he can get back to that!!

Weve picked up a backup for basically ten places in the draft, 40 to 50 which is likely to be 45 to 55. We werent going to get a quality back up who was prepared to play SANFL. Ive got no problem with this.

noble on 5aa explaining it in terms of graham last played well in 09/10, under wallace, under a particular game style, we play that style now, so they think he'll be good for our game.

Wanted to come to adelaide and wants to compete for first ruck position.

Also believe he's just getting to an age where he's likely to start being a bit better.

For straight swap 40 for 50

Against the expectations of most, Graham generally acquitted himself well in 2010. But as tugga says, he went backwards after that. He got monstered by Ben Hudson last year, who himself was only a few games away from being delisted. That did it for me. Maric's physical presence was like a breath of fresh air.

Oh well look at the Positives he's the 1st person ever on a Crows list that has the first name Angus and also 1st person ever on a Crows list with the last name Graham, the Bays also need a ruckman would be familiar with the colours and might be good for some un-co lols to lighten up the SANFL threads;).

We better also start making some Sam Jacobs prayer shrines if we weren't already though, start to make sure he doesn't walk under any ladders, see any black cats or break any mirrors.

Apparently quoted as saying he looks forward to challenging Jacobs for the 1st ruck role...

I can accept the trade where the Knights compensation pick hasn't been used & effectively swapping a pick which we wouldn't use. We do need a back-up ruckman as insurance to Sauce - would have preferred Giles or Gorringe, but probably better than nothing.
