Budget surpluses and deficits mean very little to those in the know, but to those a little less in the know, they can absolutely be weaponised (debt and deficit disaster, anyone?). If Labor had run two deficits, I don't think they would have stood a chance even if the money was used to offset cost of living because at the end of the day, the individual benefits still would have seemed minor against the global issues it had created. Hopefully those surpluses can be used on an agenda that will provide some relief, which seems to be the case with the initial education announcements.

Now, it's obviously frustrating that they wait until an election campaign to promise relief, but we are locked in to a three-year cycle that brings elections around far too quickly so every decision is made with them in mind. We really could do with four-year terms.

And you did exactly what I said you would, run line by line and complain about aspects of everything. You said they did nothing, I showed they did something, you say it's not enough or something else happened that minimises it (apparently fee free TAFE course isn't good policy because HELP went up?) or it benefits everyone but you don't like the way they got there (stage 3 tax cuts). They are objectively better than the government that came before, now it's up to them to communicate that and if they can't they are in trouble, but let's not pretend the Morrison years were the same or better.

Fight for the change you want, vote Greens, but arguing Labor and Liberal are no different is reductive and leads to more Liberal governments that are objectively worse for people you claim to be wanting to help.
because I don't believe the majority of that list is effective or election winning policy either

and I think Labor have largely tinkered around the edges while largely maintaining the policy course set by the coalition over the last 9 years

now we've reached the vote for us and we'll do something next time phase after a couple of years of mostly sitting on their hands to say they are adults with the budget

even worse they have frequently acted like they aren't the government

a lot of passive voice and powerlessness when they don't want to try and fix something

oh yeah we know the legislation coming into effect is bad and thats the coalitions fault (pretend we didnt vote it through) but we can't do anything about it (pretend we're not now the government)

when you spend 3 years telling everyone that all the bad stuff isn't your fault and you also can't do anything about it is it any wonder people think you aren't the answer to the problems?

That reminds me, we have way too many elections in Australia that are ineffective. The system is broken. LG elections, State elections, Fed elections, none which helps the gen-pop.

Mane no sense sending actual id to miryad providers. Surly beef up the govt digital identity?
Thereby just giving your online habits to the government instead? So Albanese can hunt you down for criticizing him (which he has publicly stated is one of the reasons behind his misinformation bill - i.e he can't believe someone would ever compare him to a nazi, despite the fact he's the closest thing to an autocrat we've ever had in this country) yeah no thanks.

Please explain how he's the closest thing we've ever had to an autocrat

Please explain how he's the closest thing we've ever had to an autocrat
The biggest three are:

  • proposed the Voice (a spectral fourth arm of Government that had no clear limitations or operation and would have been weaponised by the left to reduce the democratic impact of Australians)
  • has proposed the 'misinformation bill' (a censorship driven autocratic policy designed to quash his opposition and promote his propaganda)
  • digital ID + online age verification (another form of 'armbanding' your political opponents and restricting their freedoms online in an attempt to reduce criticism and hunt down detractors)

He's the worst prime minister we've ever had, and that's saying something. He looks up to autocrats and wants to be one.

Pretty much. 1984/North Korea/China/Hermit Kingdom/Gilded Cage etc. When you control the mail you control information.

And the denizens are sleepwalking into it. Because that's what Aussies do.

The Voice was nothing of the sort. They even watered down the language to "representations" instead of "advice", because there was a slight concern that "advice" carries obligations in some legal settings.

Absolute hyperbole.

Wait 12 months. Then you won't think its just "internet conspiracy theories". Because that will be the reality.

And then in this country 2+2=5.

Marc nothing listed would make Albo an autocrat

Nothing listed makes Albo the closest thing to an autocrat we've had in this country

Our systems don't really allow for that to happen either

They intentionally did not publish the scope and powers of the Voice prior to the Referendum and the proposed amendment to the Constitution allowed them to set the frame of reference for the Voice after it was constitutionally adopted.

This was because they intended to utilize it as a permanently left wing check on Government after the Referendum had it succeeded.

The proposed language of the constitutional amendment was:

“Chapter IX Recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples

129 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice

In recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia:

  1. there shall be a body, to be called the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice;
  2. the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice may make representations to the Parliament and the Executive Government of the Commonwealth on matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples;
  3. the Parliament shall, subject to this Constitution, have power to make laws with respect to matters relating to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice, including its composition, functions, powers and procedures."
These points were never fleshed out and I am certain that a left wing government would have exploited them.

The first step to autocracy is propaganda + removal of free speech. Followed secondly by mass surveillance of the citizenship. This is all dangerous policy by Labor designed and intended to push us more towards an autocracy than ever before. In Albanese' dreams he lives as a permanently elected dictator, with no public criticism and constant access to gifts and bribes from the market like his Chairman Lounge seats. He is a man absent morality in any sense.

"Internet conspiracies" what?
Yes all three of your conclusions are bog standard internet conspiracies which this is not the forum for

Yeah we're not having you flood this thread with this bullshit about the voice

You're about to get removed from here permanently if you keep this up

That sounds a little autocratic :tearsofjoy:

But imagine thinking the enemy you have to look out for is socialist woke warriors and not the corporate capitalists that all political parties are beholden to. Imagine thinking Trump and Gina and co. are fighting for you and not their own hip pocket. It's a helluva take.
