Burns has probably been one of the form players in the shield the last 18 months

Easily up there with the most consistent. Averaged 55 last season, high 40’s so far this season and 40-50’s while he was in amongst the test squad regularly. Those numbers along with a pretty reasonable start to his test career should have him in the team.

Ed Cowan saying on radio that his role in the team is to clean up the tail. Absolute worst bowler of the new ball I’ve seen in a long time, that over rated and overhyped it’s not funny.

Cowan is correct .. the fact that he continues to be the go to guy with the new ball is to me the main frustration. Let him bowl first change and do his Brett Lee thing with the tailenders.. would rather Cummins supporting Hazlewood with the cherry..

Ridiculous post. If you have 90 overs to make 215 runs you are not going to play for a draw. There is only two results possible.

It's not like an ODI. It's a day 5 pitch and this is the last recognized batting pair. While it can be done, there has to be an element of safety up to lunch after which the approach can be more fluid.

You don't simply say - ah there's so many overs left and this many runs to get and make a conclusion.

NZ own us in World sport,a little country of 5mill has more guts and determination than our teams of primma donnas.

Let’s look to NZ to see how we can improve.

I think the dollar has alot to do with it.
They do really well for such an underdeveloped third world country.

There should be 3 results in play - if the draw is out of the equation it’s because we can’t bat, in the old days if we lost a couple quickly tomorrow you’d shut up shop and play for a draw - that’s better than gifting the opposition a win as in the First Test v Pakistan in the UAE. Says a lot about the way we play test cricket that no one considers it an option

Aus can only dream of winning a test series in a place like the UAE.

Usually all bluster.

Why should they copy another nation. Go about it your own way. The kiwis have gone about it their own way.

if that's the case, he (Starc) should be dropped and/or we need a new bowling coach.

Also as well as they just played thats really the kiwis first big away series win for nearly 20 years, they lost to us home and away just a few years back, if we lost home and away to them our players would have been shot.

Kiwis can go through more bad patches because people don't expect much from them.

I also heard ed cowans comments.

If that's his job, he is in the side for all the wrong reasons. Much like the batting scenarios, do we have another fast bowler?

This is as bad a side since the 2010/11 home ashes

50% of his innings are below double digits. He’s 34 years of age. Encompasses the current state of batting mediocrity
I get that, but he played well today and yet people are still mouthing off at him.
