Autopsy Autopsy vs Saints - Nadir

The way to beat north is with pressure. Once any level of pressure is applied we are gone, due to our shocking disposal (both hand and feet), and playing dumb football.
Our disposal is just as bad under no pressure. Our Captain is as dumb as dogshit and our structure looks like Mr Squiggle having an epileptic fit, it's a complete mess.

So I'm in Venice sitting in 28 degree sunshine reading this, looks like I'm going to order another bottle of red.

And covering us off defensively. Restrict our outlets and we cough it up because we have too few who can take on and beat a man to create the overlap. And tonight we got caught out going the other way far too often due to shiteful defensive running from the mids amd half forwards. Saints opened us up early the sat back and picked us off after half time.

One of the worst games I've seen live. Skill level was awful from both sides. Embarrassing

Yeah, you wouldn't be running out and plonking a grand on the Saints to make the finals when they could only muster a 17 point win.

We were putrid and only beat us by 17 in the end.....I know the last qtr was a bit of a junk time but if we were good enough we could of stolen it as Saints were not very flash at all in the last.
Any other team would do it to us if roles reversed

I thought Atley produced closer to what we expect tonight. Cunnington went well, despite turning it over a few times.

As for the rest, our new VFL team will have imposing depth.

I'm very conservative with making wholesale changes for youth or perceived form, but this week we need to ensure that our best performing twos players are first picked. The guys who played tonight can fight over the places that are left.

The league is so close that we aren't as far off as tonight suggests, but changes are necessary out of that pitiful performance.

None of tonight's problems are new, but they all combined tonight to give us something really 'special'. Deplorable decision-making (e.g., Waite passing straight to a Saint in F50), dismal disposal (e.g., Garner handballing straight to players' feet), poor gameplan and/or execution thereof (how many times do our players all go to the same place/run together, thus gifting the opposition a free transition to goal?), too many non-contributors... the fact us losing by under three goals is flattering to us despite how poor our opponents were tonight says a lot.

Thought Atley looked better than he has for a bit, and Gibson was one of few who played their role well for most of the night. Clarke continues to improve, Mountford was promising, Williams not his best but still good, same goes for Mullett. Ziebell was a bit of everything both good and bad tonight, but given how poor the team was overall, his good moments stood out a bit more. Couple of others did a couple of good things here and there but rarely consistently. That's about the extent of the 'positives' to be taken from this match...

Worst performance in a while - somehow substantially worse than a fortnight ago and that was pretty bad itself. Reactive "drop everyone and play the 'kids'" talk is no solution to our woes, but no question there are plenty out there who've done little to earn their spots and if our VFL players can't clear that low bar then the situation is even more dire than on face value. Mantra should still be "play the guys in form"... problem is I'm not sure we get a 22 out on the park on that criterion at the moment...

I killed a tv with the freo loss and i nearly went 2 tvs tonight.
Ball use horrid.
Cunners stats lie, he wasn't his best. Forwards were crap but when the inside 50 use is that bad can't blame them.
Anderson isn't an afl player, sorry Jed.

Have a theory

If you are a north Melb senior player in 2017 And you are playing a milestone game, You will have one of the worst of your career

200 Lindsay Thomas v WB
150 Ben Cunnington v GC
150 Lachie Hanson v st Kilda

Or possibly everyone on the team has played a milestone game these last few weeks unawares...

Hey guys, I know a lot of you in here are hurting a little so I'm not trying to stir the pot. I was just curious in the discrepancy between the fans perceived performance of Goldstein and the player ratings. He came out of that match as the BOG according to the player ratings yet this thread reads like he was rubbish.

Whilst I want Preuss in Goldy was very good tonight. That said longer is a hack of the highest order

If we lose the key to the locker holding the balls, FFS can someone get a jimmy bar and bust it open?
Putrid effort tonight, skills are shite when you stack it up against other clubs or 3 kids at the park. Y
Surely were tanking if Goldy continues to dish up that effort and gets a game in front of BP, gets rag dolled way to easily and has no impact -
Thought Atley was solid tonight and Marley was again one of our best, Cunners got plenty of it and Clarke had a dip.
1st rounder for Anderson, WTF were we thinking, if he's not signed for next year he's to the tip as he's rubbish. Sorry that's being harsh to rubbish, what does he offer, absolutely nothing- say it again!!
Bye Bye Lachie Hansen, Werribee says hi, thanks for the 150.

Cheers all

He was ok. He has been rubbish, wasn't that tonight, but he can be so much better I think any review here is probably going to get swept up in the general disappointment.

No thats just the Goldy haters as of late that seem to think Preuss is the answer. Theres a few others like Atley, Jamie Macmillan & Gibson that are whipping boys too.

I thought he (Goldy) was ok. He's been better but was serviceable.

Alot of people round here have got the shits up with Goldys form and will pot him unless he has 60 hitouts, 25 possessions and 3 goals.

He was far from our worst player tonight.
