In reply to uncle, hawke and the web site big footy the above posts mentioning my name have had an effect on my reputation.I am presently seeking specialist advice.

Your case could open a few doors KB...imagine if Fraser Cameron were to initiate legal proceedings on every poster who has mentioned the name "Fraser Cameron". Fraser Cameron would have a field day!! (Would he be represented by Fraser Cameron?)

(there's 4 for you Frase...now 5):D

You know what they say HBP: A lawyer who acts for himself has an ass for a client.

I'd be better advised to engage the services of Lionel Hutz. ;)

Whilst not been a spokesperson for the club, we would love to play in A Grade next year, we would battle for most the year.

Most of the players are under 23, and may benefit from another year in B Grade.

There are no clubs currently in B Grade that will do a St.Bedes. Looking forward to 2011, OM's and OT's will be the obvious choice for the bottom 4 with the two newly promoted B Grade teams.

OM's appear to have a greater upside , with OT relying still heavily on the Big Cat and Rambo. Both teams will be bigger (height) than any team coming up.

Chances of B Grade Teams to survive in 2011

OC - Very possible. Ability to draw quality players is a positive.
OH - Can Voss, Brown and Ford keep them in A Grade? I don't think so.
St. K - Too small, both in height and girth.
Oak - From relegation favourites to top 4 - Anything is possible, but again too short.
St. Bernards - Best chance of survival in A Grade in 2011 is based on its ability to get the old boys back to the club.
Blacks - Rely to heavily of too few to be considered a team strong enough to survive in A Grade.

imo max

Good post Maxxy!!

I agree that there isn’t a club in B that was a standout like St Bedes. Having said that there hasn’t been too many of those standouts in the last 30 years of B and people forget that everyone thought they had got too far in front of themselves back then as well when they declared they were going straight to A grade premiership glory!!!

However I do think that the level of B is pretty fair at the moment based on the fact that so many are there and thereabouts and, generally speaking, the quality of footy played most weeks by those teams is a fairly decent standard and style.

It’s always hard to know but I would like to see how the top 5 in B would go against the bottom 5 in A at this point in time – I would be bullish enough to say that the they would all put a good showing in against OS and OM with the rub of the green to decide the winner, would fancy their chances against OT and OB and be outright favs against Marc at the moment.

Agree with Maxxy that the teams that do go up are probably looking at a bottom 5 finish on the current lists as not sure how they would go against the top 4 teams but A grade does present a good chance to boost the recruiting drive and get some real enthusiasm and numbers into clubs. OC in particular, being there first time in the big time, should be able to use it as a draw card to get people down so I wouldn’t rule out higher honours necessarily.

Also, a season of tough games every week is as good a preparation for the grind of A as any where you need to make sure you get every win you can and don’t get blown away against the really good teams who can do that to just about anyone on their day!!!

I have said it before but at the risk of repeating myself I think a clubs ability to compete in the top grade is directly related to the strength of the 2’s (and now 3’s to a lesser degree). With the momentum that A grade brings clubs coming up will be a chance to snare 1 or 2 top line recruits but I think it’s the ability of the bottom 6-8 players in A that makes the strongest teams so good as they stretch the clubs with less depth until they find a winner somewhere on the park and then in all goes pear shape from there (i.e. the 3rd best forward gets free and kicks a few or the rotations in the centre means that the teams are fighting between resting their top liners and being blown away for 5-10 minutes a qtr when they aren’t on).

Tips:

Old Carey V Old Haileybury
Old Ivanhoe V Uni Blacks
Old Essendon V MHSOB or could it be a draw?
St Bernards V Hampton Rovers
Oakleigh V St Kevins - toss of the coin on Oakleigh's current form.

What's "misconduct" short for - is that swearing at the umpire?? If so it is ridiculous that you get the same penalty for swearing as striking.....

49, depends what he said...

OC, purring along nicely.
OI, a very good team.
OEG, need to win to keep their hopes alive.
St Bernards at the pit.
SKOB at their old home ground.

Whatever happened to sticks and stones - umps are to be respected but they aren't the pope FFS....

I would argue that whatever he said it can't be as bad as striking so something is not right there!!! Wonder if the tribunal would accept "accuracy of comment" as a defence???? Perhaps Scribe can enlighten me on the legal precedance here - i.e. if it walks like a duck and sounds like a duck and you call it a duck is that acceptable....

Can I clarify that the above doesn't include racially or religious slurs - there is no place for thoses anywhere either inside the fence or out! However, I dare say that this isn't the case here (and if so the Ammo's should be stronger than 2)

I presume Dan swore directly at the umpire and was derogatory in his comments? Whatever it was, his club (probably including his father, Simon, aka "Harry" - top bloke) decided he should cop his whack and not go to the Tribunal, as he has accepted the prescribed penalty.

The most recent example of a misconduct charge being upheld that I can recall was Fitzroy's ruckman Chris Meighen (now at Temple$towe) who dropped a couple of choice "c" bombs at his direct ruck opponent after he'd copped a boot in the groin region just before quarter time.

Didn't help that it was within earshot of the crowd, he had to be dragged to our huddle whilst still swearing, and the reporting/controlling umpire was Leah Gallagher (only because a male umpire may not have taken umbrage, but it was totally understandable in Leah's case).

We tried to argue he should get 1 week for insulting language, but the Tribunal disagreed and he got the 2.

Any conduct towards umpires designed to intimidate or threaten would amount to misconduct as far as I'm aware.

Umm, I think you will find that Dan's dad is in fact Tony not Simon aka Harry the top bloke!

Thanks Scribe for clearing that up - I still think he can probably consider himself a bit stiff but short of a royal pardon i doubt anything will convince the kangaroo court at HQ of not handing out the prescribed punishment.....

As has been stated before massive week for the course of the season this weekend - the picture gets a lot clear at 5pm on Saturday with teams no doubt eager to go into the break on winning form and people running out of games to make up the difference in the tighest season in living memory!!!!

clean up of ROUND 12:

HR completed two wins for the season against OE.
Clean sweep also to OH over MHSOB.
2 wins for the season for OC over UB.
And a home win each for OI v ST K and OAKS v ST B

Looking ahead to Round 13 (which is the contra week to Round 6):

Previously:

Away win by OC over OH by 31.:)
Away win by OI over UB by 28.:(
Home win for MH against OE by 33.
Home win for HR against ST B by 33.
Home win for ST K over OAK by 29.

Let us see if there are similar margins this week.
