Amiss does not read the play well.

He needs the ball kicked to him, you can't rely on him out reading his opponent.
I'm more talking about our mids/small forwards when we move the ball, handballing to teammates but unaware of the opposition closing in, running too close to each other, guarding the same player, list goes on..

It’s not that drastic tbh.
Geelong were getting pumped, outworked.

Fremantle have loss 6 games by less then 12 points this season. It’s literally that close. Players are United and playing that well to be that close.

We’re in every game this season bar Bulldogs, West Coast and Sydney.

The players have to believe they’re good enough.
Disagree. Losing all these close games is weak.

Finals in 2022, none in 2023 and not we wait and see if we scrape in 2024.

We have players coasting by weekly and zero selection integrity. Our leaders don't get it done

Close games are more luck, more clutch and more fitness.
We won v Sydney by 1 point. Drew with Collingwood.

Players are hurting, because they’re good enough. Just have to get dirtier and train for these situations

There are no other players to select.. We have a dearth of small forwards, our other winger has played his first game for the year. We have had injured KPDs all year.

Luck? Somewhat, but also a huge cop out. Good teams win them.

Drew with Collingwood who missed what, 8 best 22 players that night?

Don't use luck as an excuse.

Ok, wasn't totally clear on it. But given you gave them no chance, you'd have to be a bit upbeat then that they were a such a huge chance of snatching it so deep into the last?
Oh 100% mate. Despite my frustrations, I'm honestly happy with the effort and it was a much better performance than I was expecting.

We had our chances to win it in the last, so it's the hope that killed me here.

We did quite well, but when the game became winnable and we didn't take it, that's the painfully frustrating part for me

We need one more lethal forward. Banfield needs some time elsewhere to reset.

100%.
Need someone like Walters. Just something out of nothing. A lethal player. Too many workmanlike players doing selfless things.
Switkowski is this. No one wants to take the game on and just do it.
Jackson floating around 50 deer in the headlights is frustrating

Today was an accumulation of everything that we criticise players for doing, they did.

Johnson - holding onto the ball rather than giving the first option
Banfield - indecisiveness
Amiss - clutch misses at clutch times
Serong - blind kicks across the ground
Cox - lazy and spoils through the middle of the ground
Jackson - nothing in the air
Fyfe - flour bag kick inside 50m when miles in the clear
Sharp - hack kicks long… straight and 17 rows back into the crowd.

Could probably go on, but I just sort of watched laughing at the same stupid stuff our guys do.

So angry, watching lose close game after close game hurts.

Brayshaw and Serong playing brilliant.

Reid doing a great job, NOD staring as a sub and another injured or underdone player costing us the game.

3 of Our bottom 5 players were poor. All are inconsistent, and need more pressure on the best 22.

Need more speed and class on midfield and a small forward or 2

Some of the coaching WTF's

  • No Walters at this stage of the year with this much on the line?
  • Noddy playing 5 mins instead of a quarter and a half?
  • Noddy subbed for Fyfe over Banfield, when maturity is needed in the final 10 mins?
  • Cox out there endlessly, no switching defenders around and Hogan just gets better and better..
  • That selection monstrosity last week with Tabs over Reidy
  • Subbing the bigger bodied Erasmus for Aish against Dons.
  • My personal opinion- ignoring Brodie for an entire season, playing Sturt late and Erasmus missing too.

List is endless - terrible selections pre-game, terrible on-field decisions. And worst of all - there is never, ever a Plan B or any creativity.

The amount of ootf kicks we had i50 and going i50 cost us the game. There would’ve been at least 5. Instead of locking it for another chance we get to watch GWS kick it long to Hogan who of course wins his matchup and then they head straight back i50.

I am currently out of the country. Could someone please give a summary of pros and cons of today's game please 😊

On the positive;
  • It looks like Noddy is back and he's not leaving.
  • Chappy proving form is temporary, class is permanent
  • Sturt is quickly becoming an actual gun, I need him signed yesterday
  • Brayshaw well and truly over that niggle from earlier in the year
  • Thought it was an overreaction on Voss last week. More than handy depth for the future. Dont need him to be a star but if he can come in like that over the next few years, it could make difference between a game here and there.
  • Reidy made match committee look stupid not playing him last week, mainly because playing Taberner was ridiculous. Like Voss, handy depth, just doubt it's at Freo.
  • I cant question the endeavour. I think particularly if Port are missing Georgiades, we'll win next week and I know our best is almost good enough so we can have a free shot at finals. I still think we can make it and any finals experience is good experience

The more you look at it, the more this team just seems eerily similar to the Chris Connolly Era of the mid 2000s, good enough to compete with the best, not good enough to get the job done.
This is my big concern.
Trending very similar, even tho this year is more like 2004 but both 2004/5 seasons almost same as 2023/4

It’s why I’ll be so gutted to miss finals this year.

Can absolutely see us having a 2006 style breakout year next year but I’m near certain what cost us the most that year (basically a premiership) was the clubs/players lack of finals exposure in the end.
We most certainly should have played finals bare minimum one of those previous years .

Instead all the team had was one measly finals appearance (2003) under their belt and this current teams hading exact same path (2022)

Make no mistake , this years inability to play finals could well be the deciding factor in freo coming up short again in 2025
