The net value was more like this:

Tuohy, Menzel and pick 20. It's not nothing, and if all we get out of it is Plowman and Marchbank, we're breaking even. Fingers crossed we start to get more out of Sumner and Pickett later this year.

You're also treating their latent talent as a given, which is a huge mistake to make in reality. Sometimes people make bad decisions based on limited or bad info.

Nothing lost with Menzel, Kerridge marginally more productive. Reckon you can add Pickett to the plus side so nett gain.

Big call, clearly has the skill set, and is up for the contest. A bit more composure and team focus, (ie not biting off more than he
can chew) is still in order. Endurance is also still an issue.

It's not a big call at all.

Hopefully we'll play a game soon where we're easily the better side and watch this kid capitalize on the teams dominance as well as turn half chances into gold.

Unfortunately were unlikely to be the dominant team, in any match, for some time.

I'm not so sure. Coming off a big injury with a limited preseason.
I thought he came back chubby after the injury but had a pretty good pre-season .

Which would still be his third pre-season compared to the other newbies 1.

I didn't get the feeling he was tired.

Anyway, to my point, not even Eddie would be doing much in our side right at the moment. In general Small forwards reflect how a teams going, not the other way round.

Love the way he wants to take the game on. Sure he has run into a few brick walls and been run down , but by golly gee, he has some pace mister

Simply needs to keep playing for me. Don't see the point in dropping him.

Completely agree Brizzy. If we were about winning games then it might be worth dropping him, but with where we are at, I just don't see what he learns in the VFL. He's better off finding out what's really required at the top level. Fingers crossed that a year in the seniors will give him impetus to work really hard in the offseason.

Couple of dominating performances in the vfl re pickett wouldnt hurt him . Obviously has the confidence to take the game on but is most likely lacking a bit of composure with ball in hand . Stint in the reserves would do him good . Where he has a little more time to be involved more in a good reserves team this year .

Pickett would be killing it already if he was in a good side.
I think Pickett would be playing VFL or State league football if he was in a good side now. Purely on fitness and getting more of the ball.

I think for us he is better playing in the Seniors. He has pace, skill, tries but doesn't have the endurance, which is the same as many of our young players.

None of Sumner, Lamb or Le Bois are playing VFL or putting pressure on, Gallucci had a poor game against Williamstown but some good VFL form before that.

Keep him in, he needs a break out game. Hasn't executed well with ball in hand but hopefully that will come. Speed of game in seniors is intense so he needs to stay on that path. Reserves would be a backward step. Needs a slice of luck then maybe he will be more composed if he feels pressure valve has been released.

Other thing is I'm sure he's improving fitness every week so maybe in time with more games under belt he will get to more contests. Remember some of us didn't think he would even be a factor this year.

But he needs to use the ball better. That should be his aim. Composure. Make the opp hurt when you get it. Burn them with pace but USE IT. BE COMPOSED.

I'm confused, I thought this was the Rumour section but it looks more like List Management Mark II.

We are discussing the rumour that hawthorn will delist JOR so we can pick up as DFA in payment for us doing them a solid to get JOM.

I still don't understand how a former Pick2 cant get a game with the Hawks ............. something fishy.

Averaging 8 possessions and 2 tackles per game means Pickett is already well and truly on the Cyril Rioli path to stardom.
It's not an easy gig in the Carlton forward line with the poor delivery from our midfield.

Casboult and Jack have done really well. Charlie showed a bit against Port.

Weitering starred in round 1 and has played with knocks or injured since.

With the poor delivery from our midfield, there is not a lot of open space for Pickett and Wright to create in. I think Pickett is doing the forward pressure stuff and is getting himself in the right positions. He has genuine pace, but cannot sustain it for a whole match. Can't wait to see him next year after a full pre-season.

For now, he stays in the Senior 22. It's not as if Lamb, Sumner or Le Bois is playing VFL, or Gallucci is playing well enough to push Pickett out.
