I've been the biggest advocate for drafting a key forward but with Harry showing signs and talk of McGovern for a mid 1st PP, I'm set on keeping 1 and drafting Walsh.

If we can toss a future 1st for Setterfield with something coming back our way I'd be pretty content with that draft result.

We need to be looking at a developing Ruck though from somewhere.

If both come through the rookie or preseason draft I can't see why not. We all say we have too many tall backs but the reality is some of these guys won't be with us next year or the year after. ASOS and JGM gone and then Rowe is almost done too. We do need to replace those guys and if H. Goddard and Collins come cheaply then they are upgrades on what we have in the reserves. If they play well and build pressure to get a senior call up then that's a positive for our list.

Are they really upgrades though?
Goddard wasn't an upgrade on anyone at St.Kilda and Collins wasn't an upgrade on anyone at Fremantle.
Just because the names are new to us, doesn't necessarily mean they're better. We've even had people suggesting Keiran Collins, also. :)

It's all early and there's obviously been many we've spoken to, yet the reality is we'll only be brining in a maximum of 4 recruits this year.

No need to panic.

First we need to get him to choose us. If he does then we work out the trade.

Pick 1 should be off the table. That's for Walsh.

Next years first (anywhere from pick 4-10) and a second or our Pp if need be will get it done.

Only if he chooses us, correct.

If SOS could work out anything except the number 1 pick to get both of them over, great and he's legitimately a genius.

But imo it would be what GWS ask for and there's no getting around it. It also sounds like a fair deal to me.

Also, there are some really good free agents next year - our top 5 pick will be needed.

I see them as upgrades on JGM and ASOS for sure. They're not world beaters but they are both guys that can play their role. Goddard has been finding some good form towards the back end of the year in the VFL. Has been dogged by injury and that's the main reason he hasn't played more games at senior level for the Saints. Kieran Collins is slow as a turtle in comparison to Goddard and even Sam Collins. Anyways, I doubt we get both, especially since there is a fair bit of interest in Sam Collins, but if we did it would be for peanuts and worth the risk IMO.

thought this was the west footscray fire when I looked out my window this morning - turns out it's the server hosting the crows bf site...........

****en love it mate.

In terms of what we can offer in comparison to the Bombers:

They have pick 8, 30, 62 and 80 and the potential to trade next year's first (maybe second rounders).

We have 1, 24, 25, 65 and 73 along with next year's picks.

From a pure points standpoint we're much stronger. I'd also bet we have more cap space.

Could we possibly package 24 and 25, send them to Sydney for pick 13, representing a 329 point upgrade for them to use on Blakey.

Then offer next year's first and pick 13 for Shiel and Setterfield?

I'm probably way off the mark.

If we had picks 1 and 3 and we traded pick 1 to adelaide for MM, pick 10 and 17 or so. I would be livid

If we had 1 and 3 (which we won’t), there is exactly zero % chance 1 gets traded.

Give them credit... over 130 dedicated pages on MM in less than a week.

I don’t really venture to other teams’ boards as a rule. However after seeing some of the comments here I thought I’d get a sense for the mood.

The almost total acceptance that only pick 1 will get the deal done, in various guises, is amazing. The very, very rare crows poster who posts something along the lines of ‘so far it’s more potential than delivery, goes missing for large stretches, hasn’t managed to stay on the field consistently’, and ‘what would we pay for him’ is ignored by the next wave of SOS and ‘Contracted!’ Vitriol.

One set of supporters is going to be very upset.

Not sure how many have seen the article on Fox Sports, but apparently we are keen on Hugh Goddard (recently delisted by the Saints). Silvagni had a secret meeting with his manager so seems like it's a strong possibility of happening.

Potentially a free replacement for ASOS. With ASOS retiring and JGM likely being delisted, at the very least we need to look at a guy like this for the Northern Blues who can put pressure on our regulars to perform.
Astounded at this delisting from the Saints. Injury punctuated career to date and nowhere near maturity.
Would be a spectacular get as a rookie.....but that list is piling up.

TDK? Hopefully Kreuzer can stick around until TDK is ready. If not, we could have a year of Phillips/Lobbe being our first ruckman until TDK is ready.

Maybe now is the time to put a serious offer in front of Lycett?

I haven't seen schloithe play live before but I'm going to watch West Perth V South Freo in the first final on Saturday .

Hopefully I can see him and Nelson on the same park and compare.
Full match report expected by 7.00pm on Saturday night. TIA

Forgot about Nelson!!!! … he is another that you would think would slot straight into the 20-30 range of our list.
