Geelong and Hawforn have peddled the come to us for suxess line for a while now- all I see is them being straight setted out each year. IF some knobhead talent wants an easy ride they can peddle their wares to Clubs promising them this and that - Carlton can build itself if push comes to shove...2-3 experienced hardened mids is all that is required to continue the journey to its next phase - nice as it might be to buy some serious class - I'll settle for a spread of more mongrel.
Geelong are in a terrible position. Traded for the now and it hasn't worked. They need to rebuild.

CFC supporter I know just text me. He went to GF. Saw Fasolo - said unlucky mate - he said doesn’t matter I’m outta here - CFC? - yeah mate.

Honestly if true i don't like his attitude.

Even if he was 100% coming to us, he's been a Collingwood player up till now and should still care that his club lost a Grand Final...he should be relatively close to some people there who would be hurting, it was emotional scenes.

That he doesn't give a **** doesn't bode well to me.

Please just give Sam Mitchell what ever he wants to get him to Carlton next year

That whatever he wants may be to be back at Hawthorn...

Caro said she's 100% certain he'll join Hawthorn, and she's usually right when she's so definitive.

Haven't heard anything about him from our ITK posters either recently and even when first mentioned it was only that we were into him and a chance.

Can't blame him for choosing Hawthorn...successful club that he obviously has connections at, and career wise Clarkson's assistants have a good record of becoming successful senior coaches...Beverage, Hardwick and Simpson last 3 premiership coaches were all Clarkson assistant coaches. It really is the best place to work for an assistant coach looking to one day be a senior coach.

Yeah their younger players are poor except only a few. Can't see them being a premiership threat in the near future they were lucky to make the 8 this year and a big reason why is their games at the Cattery. No games there during finals though and they get found out.

Cannot fathom why Sam Mitchell would choose Hawks, he already knows how they work inside out.

Lol there are many reasons for him to choose Hawks...it's probably the no-brainer place to work for any coach who aspires to be a senior coach one day. As proven by Clarkson assistants track record.

Yes but he has already spent his career doing so, Going elsewhere to broaden his base would make sense than simply going some where comfortable.

Being there and learning as a coach would be different to being there as a player.

Read on Hawks board that he'll likely become Box Hill's coach at first too, so in his apprenticeship he gets to coach his own team and then transition into an assistant coach role.

Clarkson or one of his previous assistants have won the last 6 grand finals...it's not just about being comfortable, it's shown to be the best place for him to learn and have success.

It sucks but nobody can claim with confidence that he'd be 'better off' coming to Carlton.

Beat me to it

Not what I’m hearing, but, interesting times ahead for CFC. Expecting us to be very active.
we can all speculate but if we want to move up quickly we need some established players. Another shocking year and the coach and list management will be under some considerable pressure. Their buy out clause has been injury and the fact that they built the foundations with young exciting players they now need to support these future stars and show incremental improvement.

They have religiously stuck to the plan and will do what is required in the next phase of this plan, if it means trading pick 1 they will. From all accounts the club seems to be united for the first time in regards to the path and direction we have mapped out resulting in giving SOS and the coach the responsibility of the rebuild. It will be their decision and they will be responsible and accountable for the results.
