True enough but I'm tellin' ya, McGov ain't here to **** spiders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Believe or not McGov has clocked up some of the fastest on-field sprint times of any of the Crows. REads the ball off the boot and in the air as quick as anyone. Those two traits are a lethal combination.

We just have to be clever with our entries and make use of these guys.

...if he plays forward he is going to be massive a beneficiary of the attention Charlie gets.

The opposition have to put fast, mobile 6'4" players on Charlie, usually two. Not many side have the second or third needed to cover McGov.
you forget to mention the most important thing, passy..........

This is pretty much the definition of the Sunk Cost Fallacy

Not one club would offer a top 5 pick for SPS.

I am not saying to do it, but if I was offered a top 5 pick for SPS in this draft, I would do it
Spot on.

I like the cut of your jib.

So...would we expect a Murphy captaincy resignation announcement prior to the B&F to allow some media airtime for speculation etc prior to the announcement of the new captain(s), and thus potentially creating more interest in the B&F event itself? If so, how far in advance?

If you were steering our media team on this, how would you play it? Would be an interesting discussion, I reckon.

IMO that's short term thinking. In 2-3 years he could be worth Pick One (if we wanted him gone) so why trade him now? You are also talking purely about numbers which in a team sport is too simple. Trading SPS would damage the belief in the young group and where they are headed.

It just wouldn't even be discussed at the club and it's not going to cost us any players we want.

Mason Cox says stop making excuses.

Its not the end of the world that a few posters think our team would be better off if we could turn SPS (and some 2nds or mature agers) into Shiel, Setterfield and McGovern without losing pick 1. But at the end of the day, Adelaide wouldn't take SPS and McAdam for McGovern and pick 7 because they wouldn't rate SPS as elite.
Yeah Mason Cox is a freak. Would he be getting a game if he was 20cm shorter? His size is a huge part of what he brings to the table.

SPS doesn't have that luxury so it really isn't an apt comparison.

I can testify to the reason why many Adelaide players have left in recent years and why more want out now.
Southwark beer.
It is also the reason why no club ever goes to South Australia for end of season trip.
Nothing wrong with Southwark Bitter. West End and that Coopers Pale mud on the other hand...

I'm very much a football traditionalist, but in this instance, I think co-captains is a great move.

As for SPS, he's got more natural skill than any other player on our list, can kick both feet, smart football brain, and is one of those rare players who makes others stand still while he weaves through traffic. And when he gets the ball, things happen.

And remember, he's 20 and hasn't had a pre-season yet. Imagine what he'll be like with a full pre-season behind him, and he can get 25+ possession a game. Will be a star if he has the right attitude, and reports of him training in the off-season suggests he hopefully does.

I think when everything 'clicks' for Samo (and I think it's a 'when', not an 'if'), that performances of the like that he delivered against the Suns late in the year will become the norm - and that was of a quality and standard that I'd very much like us to retain, thank you very much.
