The salary cap goes up each year. The current agreement ends in 2022, assuming 1.1m is per year with no front/back loading. That would make his 2022 season worth 8.1% of cap. With the assumption of similar increases to the cap in 2023-2025 that would bring it down to around 6.5%.

None of us really know what is offered, by SOS is a clever operator with extra cap room now. He'll make it work.

Hope you're right. My concern is that we're caught in "get Shiel" hysteria - no matter the price. As you say, I guess we have to trust that sos is keeping a level head.

Although 7 x 1.1m sounds like a bl**dy good deal for Shiel. Just worried we're not going to enjoy the last 3 years of it (which, if dependent on triggers, we won't be able to front load).
