Doesn't the same theory apply for Henderson?

Sure - except if Geelong want Henderson then they can't afford for him to be pushed into the PSD. He'll be snapped up by one of Brisbane, Essendon, Gold Coast, Melbourne, St Kilda, GWS, Port Adelaide etc. before he reaches them.

If Essendon don't play ball with a Carlisle trade, we just have to reach terms with Brisbane to make sure they leave him for us - favouring them slightly in the mooted Bell/Aish trades should keep things civil.

Agree with what you are saying BB. In addition we could also say to Geelong that they need to trade something worthwhile with us or we would redraft Henderson in PSD. Not that we would want to but the threat of doing so could ensure that the Cats play ball. Although this bluff would not work if Geelong were aware that we were committed to draft Carlisle in the PSD.

Carlisle is a quality young tall, will attract plenty of interest.
We 'll be in a strong position if he nominates CFC as his preferred destination. However if we want fair value for :-
Hendo, Yarran , Bell and possibly Menzel, then we must give the Dons something reasonable.
Ciao

why? if he won't go to Brisbane then we get him for nothing with pick 2 in the pre season draft. Happy to be fair and reasonable dealing with other clubs as what goes around comes around, but Dons have a bad reputation and the least we can do is play hardball with them.

We will be in an impregnable position if he nominates us. Hold the PSD to their heads and then offer our second rounder tops. They will not take that because they refuse to admit that their players have devalued hugely because of the impending CAS case. So too bad for them.

All of the players you mentioned bar Hendo are contracted, so we get to say what is fair value. Hendo, I expect will get unders because his form has been so poor for two seasons, but even then should get a first round pick with a sweetener from us.

PS RE the mythical etiquette between clubs when trading, the Swans screwed the Crows and the whole comp with the way they wrangled Tippet for a LATE pick in the PSD. Yet nobody put a ban on trading with them. They created an opportunity with dirty dealings and then they seized it without shame.

Give them our discards for him, or take him in the PSD.

Warnock, Ellard and Jones for Carlisle.

No we don't!

Ummm...actually...

Haven't back through the thread so not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but Hendo apparently did a medical at Geelong on Wednesday.

Don't think it's popped up in this thread, but it's definitely shown up somewhere (Trades thread, maybe...?).

Apparently it was before he announced his intention to leave - which is hopefully an indication that he's been given the all-clear by the Geelong medicos.

I think Ryder used that 'threat' to move to Port whilst contracted? but the club back down quickly and resolved to trading fairly. If the WADA hearing was before trade period and they got done he would most likely be able to do that without much of a whimper from them.

still went to arbitration? trading fairly my arse.

Won't mind if we get Carlisle and even pay him whatever Hendo was/would've got - is a few years younger and carrying no known injuries. I do, however sincerely hope we're smart enough to have a WADA clause in the contract. Though, in saying that - there's no guarantee that the appeal (remember it was ruled in their favour early this year) is successful. Even if it somehow is, my realistic and honest opinion is that they get a back-dated 6-12 game suspension at worst… it has been carried on for years remember.

Carlisle via PSD if ESS won't accept anything less than 20 (which we know they won't).

Best case:

IN: Carlise (PSD), Pick 10 (Hendo trade), Pick 17, Sicily (Yarran trade), Aish (Bell trade)
OUT: Henderson, Yarran, Bell and late pick in Yarran trade

We get 4 top 20 picks, a young KPP with runs on the board and a few youngsters who fit needs and have potential + get rid of a few players who don't want to be here.

2. Weitering 10. Curnow 17. Collins 20. Slider 38. Rice or Hisham (if STK get him) 56. SOSOS

Win.

No-one has felt particularly obliged to deal fairly with Sydney since then either.
Note GWS threatening to take Mumford in the PSD, then when they got him cheap they went straight back & threatened to take Lamb in the PSD (and did).

Wasn't aware of anything that Hendo was carrying an injury. Should have been a formality for him to pass that medical.

Heard MM on SEN last Friday, said Hendo had shoulder work on start of the year or late last which many not aware of....
Thats why i think so unfair for us to say he held back from contest, soft etc... Still am unhappy for him to leave
