3m/5years would be a sensational result for Carlisle...just can't see it happening, WB's just makes too much sense.
He was apparently very keen to play under Bolton. If (big if) that's true, I'd say that would be the sticking point.

Isn't Fullback and Centre Halfback pretty much interchangeable these days. They generally swap over depending on the better match ups or whatever reason. But generally they aren't pigeon holed as a CHB and never play deeper.

On a seperate note... If we had Jamison, Carlilse, Weitering and Plowman... who would miss out?
Hawks have Lake, Gibson, Frawley & Stratton & work well together. As long as Plowman can play on smalls like Stratton can, I can see all 4 working in the one backline.

I vote we play our defenders in defence and forwards up forward.

Though it could get a bit tricky if we bring in Weitering, Carlisle and Plowman while losing Hendo and Watson (after Waite last year).
Not against trying Weitering up forward if he is a SOS-like talent (SOS kicked a few bags in his career). Would prefer him or Carlisle up forward instead of Rowe.

He might also learn how to be a better backman by playing forward. Also keep in mind he is 18 and has a lot of growth to go, jamo can definitely help develop him for next couple of years.

SOS kicked over 200 goals in his career. Not bad for the beat full back of all time.

Loving your work lately, SC. :thumbsu:

SOS was about the last time a swingman won us a game. When did Waite or Henderson ever win us a game when switching from defence to attack, or vice-versa? Answer I am guessing is never. Swingmen are overrated. Let them specialise in one position and excel at it.

Swingmen to the backline tend to put out spot-fires rather than win games themselves. Swingmen to the forward line tend to move as a result of us lacking firepower or being spanked in attack. Either way, I think you're right, any winning can be seen as only indirectly achieved by a Swingman.

Is that you PooMonkey ?? In the physio again?

I can confirm from a very close source of mine (his name rhymes with Lark Mogiudice) that Carlisle will in fact be coming to Carlton on a 4 year deal estimated at around $700,000 per year. Both clubs at a stalemate on the deal, with Essendon demanding pick 19 and a very solid player (Curnow or White possibly), with Carlton not willing to give up a player of this calibre, instead offering their third round pick and next year's second rounder. A third club may come into the equation, with a possible three way trade reading like:

Carlisle and a third rounder to Carlton
Pick 4 and 19 to St Kilda
Jack Billings and next year's second rounder to Essendon
