Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

This is ultra disappointing.

Had hoped moving back south and playing with his brother might've made life a little better for him but doesn't seem to be the case at the moment.

Here's hoping it's a month, rather than several.

From the sounds of it, this sounds like Elijah coming to the club and asking for help, rather than the club finding out and putting him on leave. Absolutely massive from the young man and shows real maturity despite his struggles. Makes me confident he'll get through this and be an important part of our team going forward, whether it's at the end of this season, next season, or beyond. Whenever he's ready.

I don't know what has happened, but to me, this reads like we are trying rehab.

Maybe he fell off the wagon, maybe this is unrelated.

But I think some compassion is in order. Nobody, to my knowledge, has suggested Elijah has harmed anyone else.

I hate to be cyncial but sounds like typical cover up to me.

I don't know what is happening with Elijah but I have seen this with other players. All spin

I hope its what you said but no guarantee. He could easily have been caught doing something, prompting him to ask for help.

We knew the risk bringing him from Gold coast with his baggage..... now we pay the ultimate price on the eve on the 2025 season for a genuine flag tilt.....got 1 good year out of him......hopefully doesn't effect his little bro....
Swings and roundabouts. We knew about Yarran's issues before we traded him.

Surely there were clauses in his contract.
IF he is up to his old tricks, rip up the contract and move him on.
IF there were no clauses in the contract, rip up Lloyd’s contract and move him on.
These guys are paid as professionals.
Deliver on that level or be held accountable …

I think issue is more about AFLPA. We can have all the clauses we want but the AFLPA controls and has rules around these situations

Too talented of a player to move on

All types of “professionals” love getting on it, cos they can afford it and it’s good fun.

For an athlete, it’s better than a stint on the booze for recovery & the skin folds etc.

Just like players of yesteryear used to smash the grog on the w/ends, we’ve got players dabbling in their socialising, just like plenty of others in society. It’s not a big deal nor a problem or needs to be treated as an issue (getting caught seems like the problem at hand for players).

Sellers and the gang used to hit the pubs after training’s religiously and after-match + Sundays were another session. Different days but the same outlets apply for social activities with another type of stimulant.

Please tell me you have no direct responsibility in business management or working with young people Redbull.

This is so far removed from a Tarryn Thomas situation that your proposal is unthinkable.

No one on here or at the club are using kid gloves in this.

We as outsiders don’t need to know or have the capability to see what has transpired over the course of the pre season and the public face of this, whether we like it or not, is to protect the AFL and CFC brand and Elijah’s privacy.

As others have said the widespread use of recreational drugs inside and outside of the AFL (if that is the subject matter) requires more than an immediate “you’ve blown it, you’re out” approach.

Carlton respects should be a two way street- which implies Respect Carlton as having equal ( at least) meaning for all involved.

Good luck and best wishes to the kid because I rate him as potentially an exceptional talent and therefore of utility to the Clubs most important stakeholders - the supporters.

One can only hope the penny has dropped for Elijah. He needs to understand his career is on the line. At 22 years of age has an opportunity to set his life up for the next 10 years.

Without knowing the facts…

If Elijah’s actions have resulted in this outcome, I’d expect he will need to impress on club & team (et al) that the penny has dropped as part of him moving forward as a CFC player.

This may well have already happened.

Fingers crossed for Elijah.

What's really strange in the CFC media release is that it says 'the club won't be commenting until it is required to do so'. Media releases are crafted carefully and this is really odd that they'd bother to include this line if it wasn't intentional. It almost suggests they are expecting to share more info later but not now.
This was my immediate concern as well. It's either unfortunate wording, or they're conceding that whatever has happened is serious enough to require an official statement down the track.
