I won't breathe easy until we get 300+, but I'm enjoying todays batting so far. I think one of the best aspects is the running between wickets. No unnecessary quick singles. The worst thing in test cricket is a run out, and quick singles unlike one day cricket, put the pressure on the batsmen.

These 2 are comfortable and cruising :thumbsu:

We finally have a post-katich opener that actually values his wicket and the commentators spend all morning bagging the shit out of his scoring rate.

Listening to these clowns it is sometimes easy to forget that they actually played Test cricket.

Cowen won't have any complaints from anyone in the dressing room.

Ditto !!!

Pardon the pun but run rates are the most over rated cricket stat. going round, especially on the Day 1 of a test that has conditions favouring the bowlers.

Early in a test, wickets in hand are more valuable than run rates and most importantly Cowan's innings is protecting our fragile middle order of Hussey, Clarke and Haddin from the newer ball and fresh bowlers.

After South Africa, New Zealand and England, This Indian bowling is some of the weakest we have played against for quite a while. No sustained pressure from the quick bowlers at all.

Bit rough on Clarke, arguably our best batsman over the last 12 months.
