Since it is the Michael Voss oval, why not name each stand after players he recruited in 2009 trade week?

The Brendan Fevola stand is the stadium’s version of Bay 13 with close access to the bar and the TAB.

The Amon Buchanan stand has a food facility that sells such unmemorable treats such as unflavoured yoghurt, unsalted popcorn and room temperature tap water.

The uncovered seats in the Andrew Raines stand are surprisingly good value, but bring an umbrella.

Short on time? Only want to pop in for one quarter before ducking off and never being seen again? The Xavier Clarke stand is for you.

Got king hit by some angry bogan in the Goose Maguire Standing Area for Boofy Blokes? The Brent Staker medical centre is on hand to take care of you.

After the game, you can leave quickly via either the Michael Rischitelli or Daniel Bradshaw memorial exits.

You might want to visit the Angus Johnson toilet block on your way out though, it’s a long train ride home.

The Xavier Clarke stand in honour of the most impressive one-quarter long Brisbane Lions career.

The bar could be named the Torp Bar in honour of Polkinghorne"s finest moment.

Once, at Burpengary, I stood next to Mick Conlon at the urinal and had a piss before starting out on the long road home

Anyone on here want to be etched in Lions history on a Michael Voss oval fence panel or grandstand seat?

AFL players are only slightly more bearable wearing hardhats than politicians :p

28 years a platinum member and still waiting patiently for my invite. Must still be a lot of 29 year members ahead of me.
I have only been a member for 16yrs so I guess I have got a loooonnnng time to wait.

I only drove past the site last week. Didn't realise how far away it was. I live Brisbane northside now, and if any games are scheduled there during the Gabba rebuild, its going to be a nightmare to get there, probably more-so trying to get home.

Also begs the question, what are the players going to do in future? From what I can gather now, they all live fairly close proximity to the Gabba/Cooparoo area (Bulimba, Wynnum). There's obviously no team rule that says you have to live close the ground/training venue and I believe both Zorks and Smokin Joe do live Northside. The commute Gabba - M Voss oval is 30km, but Brisbane traffic can make that vary from 30mins to 2 hrs.
Will their be a gradual migration of the players over the next 10yrs from inner city Brisbane southside to Springfield?

I think there's a few answers. I can imagine that over the longer term some do move either out that way or over that side of town a bit more.

While there is travel, the times of day the players will be heading out there will be largely against traffic as it comes in to the city in the morning and out in the afternoon so it won't be as variable as you may think. Northside players may be a bit of an exception pending where on the northside you live. So I think coorparoo area remains still available for those who want to and it does open up other options to players. Sherwood, graceville, toowong, indooroopilly, kenmore, mount ommaney etc etc. You've got a lot more options on where you live based on where you are in life.

As for the time to commute I think it will also even out on total commute time in the week. At the moment players spend large chunks of the day travelling all over the southside of brisbane to and from and parking, especially roudn the gabba is a nightmare. They're travelling at least an hour a day, its just a different type of travel.

So there will be a difference in how they operate. Players who live innner brisbane will most likely change from lots of small trips in a day and being able to go back home in between, to driving out to the club to start the day and staying there. Now the facilities around player comfort and areas have been designed for this and theres a massive shopping centre just across the road if they want to go elsewhere so they won't be sitting around doing nothing.

It will be an adjustment but I'm not super worried about it. TBH i'd say the women will have the hardest time especially if they're training in the afternoon/evenings. That drive out there at that time is not kind. If i was them i'd be parking at a train stop a few stops away and hopping on the train for the last bit of the trip.

Well, maybe not a big move away form inner city but a move in a closer drection. Kenmore or even Indooroopilly could be a more popular choice being close to Centenery Highway.
