I’m merely commenting on the rumours. Why do we need to make these unflattering assumptions - just to paint Grundy in a bad light?
What if we make the assumption ALL players chose not to take a pay cut?
People are peddling concocted narratives designed to unfairly disparage Grundy.
Ronny has a strange and sometimes caustic way of conveying his message, so I’ll put it in my words.Mine is simple - he’s taking meetings with other club to assess what his value is in order to establish the fairness of Coll’s position.
He’s not a fool and this is very sensible and logical approach.
Impossible.Just think Bon Scott in Dirty Deeds. Just sexier.

Agree BG is meeting with the blessing of the club. And it’s clearly because the club wants him to confirm their views that his contract exceeds his current market value.I’m merely commenting on the rumours.
Other players apparently have taken pay cuts, (Pendles and Sidey as an example).
I only guessing however, I’d put money (pardon pun) on Billy accepting less than others would offer.

There is no way on earth BG would be meeting with other Clubs without our blessing.
With regard to ascertaining market value, that’s his Manager’s job btw.
Agree, our zone defence in the first month had more holes than Swiss cheese. Here’s an idea - maybe the game plan has developed as the year has gone on. Particularly in defence.
Rich bogan heyThis is going to be controversial but I prefer Dr. Martens.
You could see that Moore in particular was quite lost without Roughy. Or rather, with Roughy being replaced by Madgen (and Maynard missing weeks)Agree, our zone defence in the first month had more holes than Swiss cheese.
I liked your post for conceding he’s doing it with the Club’s blessing however, with the greatest respect this is fanciful mate. And it’s clearly because the club wants him to confirm their views that his contract exceeds his current market value.
I assume you mean “potentially” blown away ?I liked your post for conceding he’s doing it with the Club’s blessing however, with the greatest respect this is fanciful mate.
A simple phone call between player and list managers is the easiest way to achieve that.
We wouldn’t risk BG being “blown away” (as reported) by Melbourne’s offer if we wanted to keep him.
Seriously?Source?
Edited the post - you’re too quickSeriously?
I have no life on a Sunday morningEdited the post - you’re too quick
So he'll be 33 in the last year of his contract. That's not too bad. A lot gun players get overs in the back end of their contracts to fit them in the salary cap in their prime. Plus if he isn't any good why are so many opposition clubs looking at him? The question of whether to move him on depends on what we're intending to do with the extra salary cap space. Until you know that it's hard to say what the right thing to do is.When he signed it he was contracted for 2020. The seven year deal was an extension of that. This is year 2 of 7.
I‘ve expressed my view and we had a couple back and forth.I assume you mean “potentially” blown away ?
Or do you have a source confirming same?
If not, then there is also the more important outcome, that Grundy gets a reality check.

I’m done here mate, I have no desire to try and change your mind.
We can reconvene at the end of the trade period and chat further if you like?
Go Pies!
We won't have any control over where he goes, if he does.If he does go I'll spew if we let him go to Geelong or Melbourne. Why would you allow a top end team to get even stronger? It would only make it harder for us to win the flag.
But he's under contract. We won't have any control over where he goes, if he does.
So better to keep him rather than let him go to Melbourne or Geelong? If we are pushing him, he will have the say where he goes. Or he will just refuse
Guess it depends on what we pay. I don’t see any benefit paying 300k making him effectively a 600k player.. but I also don’t like the length. Lots to play out.So better to keep him rather than let him go to Melbourne or Geelong?
