Fly has been exemplary with his honesty as lauded by the media - so now we need to insist he’s being dishonest to suit the anti Grundy narrative?
I’m buying Flys record of honesty.

I think it was pretty evident that Fly wanted him to come back into the team as soon as he was able to run out a whole game (which obviously never happened). He outwardly claims to be honest in his media dealings, and I've seen nothing to indicate otherwise
I’ve edited my post, didn’t think about how it reflected on Fly.

Fact: in explaining our success:
Game Plan and Coaches>>>>>>>> that Cox/Cameron combo.
It’s not that hard mate.

Game Plan and Coaches>>>>>>>>Cameron and Cox>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Grundy.

No it isn’t that hard.

I’m not anti Grundy btw No SPIN , provided he adapts to our game plan.
His one outing in the VFL didn’t fill me with confidence though.
Let’s assume the rumours are true that he was asked to take a pay cut.
That would’ve been positioned along the lines of helping us recruit players with a view to winning a flag.
If he said no it‘s not a good look, particularly if others have agreed to it.
Even worse if others agreed to a cut in order to keep him at the Club.
All conjecture I know.
However, we need to get our head around the fact he won’t be at the Club next year if a suitable trade can be arranged.
Why do we need to make these unflattering assumptions - just to paint Grundy in a bad light?

What if we make the assumption ALL players chose not to take a pay cut?

People are peddling concocted narratives designed to unfairly disparage Grundy.

Mine is simple - he’s taking meetings with other club to assess what his value is in order to establish the fairness of Coll’s position.
He’s not a fool and this is very sensible and logical approach.

If he truly wants to stay, he’ll come to the conclusion that Coll’s position is fair because the “market” has downgraded his value, and he may then chose to take a cut.

Do whatever you like and that makes you sleep better at nights.

It won’t change what is really happening.

Of Course 2 Ruckmen are better than one.

Your post fits the the old saying:

Better to stay silent and be thought a fool, than speak and remove all doubt.

This one I’ll bookmark. Ready on the day that GW, the football and coaching departments at Collingwood send Grundy on his way……I’m certain you’ll be bursting a foo foo valve that day.

Here is a proverb for you. You can lead a horse to water. But you can’t make him think…….

You need to convince Fly - who believes we’ll be better with Grundy.
That’s the point the anti Grundy crew can’t stomach.
This year I have little doubt we would be better with Grundy playing. However, believe we would be better in future years if Grundy was not on our brooks and that money was invested strengthening our list more broadly.

My personal position is we should keep him unless we can offload his full salary. That appears unlikely because no club is paying Grundy what we are because his is not worth it. I think that says it all.

This is your motivation - ‘I told you so.’

He was a star without marking and could be again. But it'd have to be at a team that would use him as a linking mid - which I think would need to be a team that moved the ball slowly.
I hope we do trade him to Melbourne to be a linking mid. He is appallingly slow as a linking player so that will only benefit us. Link play is one of his weaknessses,

So one of the bottom sides, where they don’t care about winning and he can play as he likes. If you haven’t noticed. Most of the top sides transition the ball quickly into attacking forays. They don’t hold up play and wait. Not unless they are trying to kill time. That’s football suicide if your stuck in that game plan. That was our lot in 2020 and 2021. Death by a thousand cuts……

JPY put it nicely…..”Take a look at me I’m yesterday’s hero”.

Self reflection is an admirable quality, and to then add the appropriate proverb is genius.
Well done.

Melbourne are clearly interested.

I think you're probably right, but wouldn't be surprised to see footy swing again and a team have success by slowly picking their way through zones.
