Wonderful! Watching it all unfold, then getting down to the last few picks before our first one, after North didn't pick him at 15 I was already celebrating. The strong probabiliity that our ruck needs are taken care of now for the next 12 years or so is huge. I'm just staggered that someone (GWS in particular) didn't take him earlier. Fortunately I have alcohol in the house, definitely celebration time! Hopefully our other 3 picks will work out nicely as well, but no matter what I'm pretty sure we're a winner already.

Just watched his highlights pack, DAMN!!, looked like a man amongst boys, reminds me of Trav a little the way he ragdolls defenders.

I am so excited getting grundy but can i ask one important question.

Why do people think he slid to our pick. I am just a bit curious as i honestly believed he was no chance
Any issues that people see in him?

Numbers add up for Brodie Grundy

TO understand Brodie Grundy you need to know these numbers: He's 18 years old, 202cm tall and weighs 100kg.
He's played less than 50 games of football in his life and had played only seven when Darel Hart added him to the state under-16 squad three years ago.
In two weeks time some are predicting he'll become the long-term replacement for Dean Brogan and Jon Giles at Greater Western Sydney when the Giants select him with one of the first three picks in the AFL National Draft.
To say it's been a rapid rise would be an understatement.
"I still haven't had anyone teach me how to ruck," Grundy says.

Very Good Question. I think teams rated the Mids Higher then him

Was hopin we got him but thought we would miss out.Geelong probably helps us in the end.We were 1 pick away from the guy i most wanted Josh Simpson. But im happy, we now have drafted a genuine ruckman, after decades in the wilderness. Also like the fact that the guys we drafted were quick and good skills.Good job boys.Happy days!

Biggest slide i've seen since this one!

I watched his highlights with Cam Wood in mind. I wanted to see him to a strong mark in general play, and by the looks of it, he couldn't drop one last year. Massively pumped, it was great to see him tapping down to Ben Kennedy. Well done Pies, I really think we have blitzed it this year!

I reckon GWS said no because they probably feel they can pick up a great ready-made ruck in 4 years or so when they are ready to challenge and will have plenty of ammunition to trade.

Richmond obviously rates Vlastuin higher and still need to flesh out their midfield. Tigers have Cotchin, Dildo and Martin who are great, but it kind of drops off after there a bit. Foley's good but seemingly always injured.

North already have a dominant ruck and maybe thought they could pad out with another player down the track, eg. picking up Currie later.

Port picked up Shaw who is fairly handy and possible ruck relief. Obviously felt pick 7 was a bit rich.

The rest already have decent ruck divisions.

So what are you doing right now to improve yourself?

"I've already started doing some running with (fellow draft prospect) Ben Kennedy," Grundy says.

:thumbsu:

Seems like they're mates and judging from Grundy's highlights, Kennedy is on the end of some nice taps. Looks like they've got a good synergy already.

I like where this is headed. Fantastic acquisitions by the Club.
