this is not the point.

the point is we got unders and if Goldy leaves we will get less than he is worth to us.
He’s 34 so he has to start shattering his duties If Goldy leaves it will be he’s choice. I don’t have any fears that the club will push him out.
On brown good riddance the money he was asking was a complete joke for a 2nd or third forward ( not on current form) sure at 400 he gets a game every week playing the 2/3rd lead up player.

We shouldn't rewrite history on Ben Brown. He wasn't a second or third forward with us. He was the forward. He deserved the money he was asking for based on his output compared to other key forwards in the comp at the time- it was the length of contract that was the sticking point.

Interested to hear the thoughts from the happy clappers re: team selection this week.

Turner named in the 18… clearly accountability for senior players is being enforced.

Time to drop Powell again is it? despite playing well with his 70% game-time on the wing.
I agree that Turner had an absolute stinker - was there something i missed in his performance?

Is he in the team because we have no forward half pressure? Would like to know why he has been kept in.

You have already spent more time critiquing my terminologies than you have on the team. More interested on your thoughts on the selections. Able to bring yourself to criticise yet or just blindly agreeing with every decision the club is making?

Noble spoke about driving standards in his presser

Not sure whether our players are following these standards at our club
Again the cupboard is pretty bare though. I genuinely don’t understand how many changes can be made. It’s even arguable the ins this week didn’t really deserve it either.

Everyone is losing their minds but can’t offer any realistic options because there aren’t many

No , it was the fact that he couldn’t get near it when he became the main man and the money.

The whining has reached new highs this season.

The worst of which are those that want to criticize without offering a solution.

Criticism for the clubs performance is warranted IMO, however if you don't have any real solution to it, maybe this board doesn't need 1000+ posts of the same s***.

He became the 'main man' in 2017 though.

I'm not sure why so many on this board have such a hate boner for BBB when at the start of 2020 he was coming off 3x 60+ goal seasons in a pretty average/bad team... Why wouldn't you try and get the best possible deal for yourself at that point when the 2020 season hadn't happened yet?
His manager wanted an extra year and we wouldn't give it to him because we thought his knee was cooked, it had little to do with the $ amount as far as I'm aware.

I tell you what though he'd be pretty handy right now freeing up Larkey from being double teamed every week. Still managed 25 goals from 13 games last year too which is more than serviceable.

and yet we overlooked a KPF in mid season draft, beats me.....

I would go:

McGuiness in
We have a KPD gap, this dude is a KPD (albeit a rake). We are going undersized every week, how's about we go undersized with a bloke who actually plays that role. Who knows playing a guy in the role he actually plays may, you know, work ?

Xerri out.
Goldy to ruck one out. While I can hear the faint cries of oh won't someone think of the rucking future. I am, X signed, CCJ contract runs out the same year, X should have come through the VFL and didn't CCJ is now out(?). What a meal we have made of this. It's one game into the bye, we'd look better and you all know it. How's about we actually make those blokes earn their ruck time rather than it being given to them. The coach talks about pressure from below and then these blokes get runs for free.

If everyone was available I would still in all likelihood give Comben the second tall forward slot over either CCJ or Xman. but who even knows if that guy has knees anymore. He'll probably get a golden staph infection from being in a recovery pool too long or some such nonsense and never play a game again.

throw a blanket over
Atu
Turner
Lazzaro
Archer
Young
Hayden
Perez
Stephenson

All of which have either not shown enough to warrant selection, or shown more than enough to constitute being dropped. There is 2 players on this list I see as having the talent/potential to be something beyond fringe. Most of the rest are trading on effort alone.

There is also issue with how we have listed the side. we are playing blokes in roles that are simply not where we will get the best out of them. Do we seriously think Hall on a wing or Young deep defender or Taylor deep forward are really any of these players go?

Then there is the compounding issue of when we do have a bloke that is hot we move them. How many times this season has Thomas or LDU looked like it was turning for them only for them to then be moved to where the ball wasn't.

Perez has shown more than enough to keep his spot. Especially considering he's played about 12 games.

The others .... well Young probably deserves to keep his spot this week but he's depth.

Not talking about the players that come in, more so about the best 22 that shows up every week.

Ins and out mean Jack shit without effort.

Things change in the blink of an eye, information moves really quickly. quicker than it will ever move to us in the outer.

I remember being told one evening on here through PM for certain that Adam Cooney would be signed to us, only for the next day for it to be announced that Cooney was going to *. The person who told me that was about as trustworthy a source as you get through here, turns out they were wrong. Doesn't make them a bad source, just means they passed on what they knew at that time and then things moved and what they knew became wrong.
Hi, hope you don't mind me replying to this specifically, I certainly don't intend buying into the wider Noble discussion.

Cooney himself has stated that he was almost signed, sealed and delivered to North, having met Joyce(?) and Scott, and verbally agreed to terms, so your ITK poster was likely very much correct at that point in time. But sounds like it moved pretty quickly around that time, as we sacked McCartney as coach, and Cooney then met the Bomberos as well before fully committing to North.

So you're right, good sources are still good sources, even if what they reveal does not eventuate.

Anyway, all the best, hope your team turns it around soon on-field.

Edit: I knew I'd find it straight after I posted - a bit of context from Cooney himself:

If GWS (a mediocre team at best) beat us at home by close to 100 points i'm packing Noble's bags myself, and employing security to stop him from entering Arden St ever again.

I think we can all deal with losses - that is to be accepted with our list and our (key) injuries.

Being humiliated every week is a different matter entirely.

Huge game for Noble I assure you.

Huge.

One of the very few times I hope GWS absolutely belt the crap out of us to expose this fraud even more.

I’d say a poor loss would be the end…I think having the extra week off for the bye might be the worst thing for DN, there’s no game to distract from looking hard at him

One of Noble's biggest failures (hard to pass 10 straight losses with an average margin of 60+ points) is his treatment of Stephenson and Thomas.

Our two most dangerous attacking midfielders, and Noble has them both struggling to find space and make an impact. After regressing in a gameplan that aims only to limit scores conceded and flood the ball, fans would rather believe they are both soft and lazy than they are being held back by a coach with no idea on how to move the ball forward and kick a winning score.

If David wants us to give him the benefit of the doubt and think that he is actually a tremendous coach with a poor playing list, then he needs to start maximising the talent that he has.

It's too convenient that players like Simpkin, Thomas, Stephenson, McDonald, Greenwood, Powell, Ziebell, Larkey, and Lazzaro are just having a bad year. Eventually, people need to point the finger at Noble.

Again if both players have cracked the sulks then it’s perfectly fine to drop them. It’s just as much about effort as it is form

My understanding (yes I get info) is if it's over 10 goals or we get hammered by inside 50s he is gone.

That may or may not surprise people, but I don't lie.

Noble is gone if we get humiliated (again)
