Going into the mid season break can the blues do it? Two winnable games one might say with Geelong first up then Port away.

Collingwood showed lastweek the with the right pressure applied Geelong can and will crumble like the cats of old, Carlton must repeat this formula if they're going to win this week and as for Port well I'd have penciled that in as a win at round 1.

So who would have tipped coming into the season Carlton would be 6-5 at round 11 and a serious shot at the finals? With injured players coming back into the side too things can only get better.

Good teams don't lose two in a row.

If you think Geelong are going to roll over and play dead this week then you have a genetic defect that cannot be cured.

They will come out and vent their spleen against us, we need to try and stay with them for as long as we can, suggesting it's a walk in the park is sheer stupidity.

I reckon Geelong will bounce back against Carlton, and I really wouldn't be surprised if they completely belted them. Sometimes teams just need a kick up the backside to get them back on the right track, and the Cats will not allow for a repeat of last week. Not to mention the game will be played at the Telstra Dome, where they specialise.

we are a definate chance against the cats, specially if bentick or armfield can stop ablett. and people must have short memories, because last season we BEAT the power by 39 points at TD (we were up by about 10 gaols) and lost by mearly 10 points at AAMI tanks very much.
we also beat them in the NAB cup this season....

6-5 is a real chance, great thread, GO BLUES!

A first gamer to stop one of the best players in the land? Good luck with that. Cats by 10 goals.

No chance against Geelong who smash everybody at the TD, especially with them coming off that big loss last week. Will easily be an 80+ Geelong win.

Carlton's only two losses in 1995 came in consecutive (Sydney by 72, 9th, and St Kilda by 56, last). Port also were beaten heavily twice in a row in 2004, as were Brisbane in 2001 unless I'm mistaken. It depends on how they approach the week - they might be hurt, but do they buy into the theory that it's just a blip on the radar and they'll be back to their best next week, or they commit themselves and pick up the intensity?

hahah i cant believe this is serious.

After watching last weeks game, i remember thinking that i would not want to play the cats next week. The cats will win by 60 - 100 points.

As for port, they are much, much better then their record shows. They have had the hardest draw in the comp, bar none. They are easily the best team outside the 8. Port by 20 - 50 points.

Did you watch Collingwood play Geelong last week?

I was at that game and then I watched Carlton play Freo the next day and IMO if Carlton are going to play at the intensity that Collingwood played at in the first half of last week's game they're going to have to turn it up a long way. The Collingwood of last week was very different to the one that was beaten by Carlton in round 4.

On top of that we had a lot of forwards running rampant last week. Rocca pretty much took himself out of the game to take Scarlett out of the game. If Carlton is going to win Fevola will have to play extremely well whilst being heavily marked.

There was an article in Thursday's Herald Sun that Judd is still playing injured.

We didn't have to contend with Brad Ottens, it'll be interesting to see how Shaun Hampson, Kreuzer and Cloke go against him and Blake.

Last week Collingwood took on a complacent Geelong who hadn't lost in well over a year. This week the cats won't be complacent, they will be well pissed off.

But hey, that's just my opinion and I'm just a Collingwood supporter.:D

My thoughts exactly. :(

But the eventual premiers have lost two games on the trot in the past - hopefully history repeats itself. Not holding my breath, though.

There's nothing wrong with believing you can be 6-5. You should be. Any team can win in any game.

However, you cannot possibly say Geelong crumble like the Cats of old. We've had bucketloads of pressure in the past year and we have handled it.

That's just a silly statement, as is your Port Power statement.

Might have to fix up your sig there :)

Can the Blues do what? Go 6-5? Apparently they are giving away rose-coloured glasses & bucket fulls of optimism over at Princes MC Optus Labour Oval.

Carlton could beat Geelong if the Blues can match the pressure & intensity the Magpies showed last weekend and the Cats continue to play like they are bored, have grown tired of the weekly AFL grind, and would like to cut to the September chase ASAP. To classify this as a winnable game for Carlton is probably a bit of a stretch. Not many people would expect Geelong to play poorly two weeks in a row & even a one-eyed Blues fanatic knows this would be a difficult game for the Blues to win.

And who would have tipped coming into the season Carlton would be 6-5 at round 11 and a serious shot at the finals? Well, if you penciled the AAMI game against Port (a 2007 Grand Final side) in as a win at round 1, you'd probably have expected the Blues to be about 9-2 half way thru season 2008. In your book, the Blues would have to be underachievers thus far in 2008 and must of left you disappointed with the unexpected losses you've had to endure in the first half of this season.

Wake up & put down the crack pipe! The Blues would be lucky to win either of these games. I reckon they are far more likely to be 4-7 than 6-5. In fact, they'd be euphoric with 5-6.

And Grrfunger - you are far too logical & sensible. I'd dare suggest that you might even be a realist. You need to follow Sideshow Fev over to Royal Parade & pick up your glasses and a couple of buckets!
