Really strong win given our outs. Our system good, our forward and defence really strong. If Guthrie can come back at his 2022 level or Bruhn or Bowes could become A grade mids by years end, then we’re right in it.

The only concern was how easy Adelaide were able to transition from kick ins to their F50. 4 or 5 times they they were able to bring the ball all the way to their F50 without us touching it.

I like the changes this year 1. Stable back setup ( not injury hit), 2. The ability to stabilise when momentum is against us has gone to a whole new level, and 3. The acknowledgement our A graders are in the forward and backline, so focus has been on building midfield depth and lifting all members of that group to B grade level - they all seem to have lifted so the midfield keeps us in games. Our A grade mids are now only intermittent contributors due to injury/age so the large group of reliable good mids is allowing us to not have a weakness to exploit in the mids. 4. More discipline over the whole match on tackling/pressure.

Had to shake my head at all the HTB decisions they missed last night, and the first one they paid was when an Adelaide player dragged the ball back in and pinned it to his Geelong opponent.
I thought if a player tried to take on a tackler/fend off, and caught that clearly HTB. Wasn’t paid all. Fogarty (I think) in last 5 mins tried to bust through 3 tackles and was clearly caught on the last and nothing. Incredible. Almost like when umps refuse to pay frees in last 5 mins of close GFs.

The players we are going to really miss when they retire.
Hawkins - the forward rock and ruck. A lot of us slated Scott when he was getting Hawkins to do some ruck work, but what it has added to his forward craft is awesome.
Blicavs - Mr Versatility - they had to change the third man up rule to nullify him. Can play FB, Midfield and Ruck (and has a tank like no other 200cm+ player in the game).
Stewart - could you imagine how he would have dominated in the lower grades if he hadn't been spotted by Scarlo. 70 possession games, a possibility?
Cameron - losing premiership medallions on their cow, giving HTB decisions on ground invaders. Really was the missing piece to give us the two big blighters in the forward line.
Danger - the bang and crash he brings is exemplary. Some of the things like his 75m drop punt to Hawkins last night for the goal get missed because they're just Danger being Danger.

The difference is by the end of this year if we keep playing Clark he will most likely pass Parfitt in every area except experience.

I have met a Parfitt a few times IRL and i love him as he is an incredible person i can see why Scott and the rest of the club love him
but he has pretty much hit his celling which is fringe 22/back up for us.

Clark has the possibility to be in our best midfield group for the next 10+ years

Yes Clark has the possibility to be in our best midfield group for the next 10+ years.

No he won't have passed Parfit by the end of the season.

Outstanding win! Feeling like we have a pretty deep squad this year. My only gripe was mannagh - did some good things and will be an astute pick up, but needs to learn we don't need heroes, team goals and unselfishness is more important. You have gryan miers as a mentor
Tad bit harsh.

Mannagh had 2 goal assists and 3 shots on goal. Just like miers.

Clark is going to be very good for us, he’s not getting a lot of it at the moment but he’s halving a lot of contests and stopping the opposition spreading.
That’s the role CS mentioned last week and it has a positive flow on effect for us. He’s a workhorse who never gives up , runs both ways and reads the game very well.
The Selwood comparisons are very apt✅

Geelong missed the finals in 2006, in 2007 Selwood stepped straight in and played 21 games based on form and made us better. He was never gifted games, he was however managed during games.

I'm not knocking Clark, I'm not sold on him like most seem to be.

Tell ya what... F*** the Crow fans salty still and booing Danger tickled me last night

Remember how head f****d they were when he left, anyone on social media/BF saw them declaring that he was going to a club going backwards, they'd be a better side than Geelong. Crows did make a granny without him and got smacked, also won a spoon didn't they? And have been a nothing club basically since.
Cats have missed finals once since danger moved, he's played in what half a dozen prelims, 2 granny's.. Has a flag and was probably a straight kick away from a Norm 😂

I'm not sure he's got a single regret for moving...

He needs a distraction to get Collingwood off the talking poimts
BT is obsessed by Collingwood. So good point. Every game we play, when he commentates, he is so against us, it's so woeful, it's embarrassing.

Last night I just cringed when he said words to the effect that everyone would love to see Crows kick a goal. He was so desperate for a horror story from Dangerfield during Reaming Brian.

Must admit, am enjoying the Schadenfreude seeing Pies have three losses :gigglev1:

Not just danger. Literally every single ex-crow has been better off leaving than staying.

It looks like our defence plan has changed up a bit this year- more of a focus on stopping the ball at midfield and if they get past that point we are left exposed. Puts lots if pressure on our defensive talls in SDK Kolo and Stewart but provided they stand up gives our forwards lots of supply. Need blitz to stay healthy as hes backing up both our ruck and key defence within games.

Why Dempsey missed his set shot snap at goal.

Ollie has his grip all wrong
Little master shows how.
Kicking side Hand at rear
Ball pointed directly at goal
Kick the rear third of ball.

Cats please fix this A.S.A.P.
This is a must know skill.
Can't believe it's not taught

Champion Data Statistics
Past two seasons:
Hawkins: Ranked 3rd
Deliberate snap set shots: 19
Expected accuracy: 54.5%
Actual accuracy: 73.7%

Josh Kennedy (WCE) : 1st
Deliberate snap set shots: 13
Expected accuracy: 54.5%
Actual accuracy: 92.3%

Luke Breust (Hawthorn): 2nd
Deliberate snap set shots: 11
Expected accuracy: 65.5%
Actual accuracy: 90.9%
Breust went through a bad stage + Sam Newman coached him. He improved enormously.

So I might need to change my view on 2E to be honest. He was better last night to my eye. I think what I don’t like is him in defence anymore as I think he has lost a little bit of ability to keep up and then make right decisions. But as a wing maybe we have found something? Looks like he doesn’t mind the run. We may have also found another spot for Dempsey to play. These are good wing stats for both.
