BT is obsessed by Collingwood. So good point. Every game we play, when he commentates, he is so against us, it's so woeful, it's embarrassing.

Last night I just cringed when he said words to the effect that everyone would love to see Crows kick a goal. He was so desperate for a horror story from Dangerfield during Reaming Brian.

Must admit, am enjoying the Schadenfreude seeing Pies have three losses :gigglev1:

I literally turned off the sound precisely after that comment.

Agree with many above on Blitz - in fact, thought this ruck stints/clearance was fundamental in the win.

Some things I liked -
  • Stewart - in the 50 years I’ve been watching footy, he’s in the best three Half Backs along with Bruce Doull and Cory Enright. (Lots of others ver good of course, but not that level for entire career)
  • Forward line spread much better than last week, hence more one out opportunities and better set shots - all taken well.
  • Close and Stengle - moving further up the ground and much more involved
  • Parf - great for his confidence and the club for confidence in him.
  • Kolo - looking so assured, nervous kicking almost a distant memory

Other thoughts-
  • Mullen - I can see the athletic attributes (one passage showed the elite acceleration) but think they should give him stints in midfield in VFL to get experience of clearance and attacking roles (not just run with defence)
  • not to play Knevitt (or other sub) in last 2 minutes- hugely deflating. Must sub at least with 20 mins to a qtr left.

Yep- Stengle and close defs better this week- good signs.

I thought it was a decent win because the Crows got back into the game and should have been in front at halftime. Personally, I think a lot of the football media overrate the Crows and underrate Geelong, but the way the lads fought back and attacked the ball was terrific, and even with a less-than-full-strength midfield, we looked good. I'm not sure how things stack up at this point because we haven't played a top team yet and won't for a few weeks. Tom Stewart was fantastic in his milestone game.

The umpiring (all aspects) was terrible.

Bank the 4 points, but keeping a lid on it cos there's still a very long way to go.

It was genuinely infuriating.

4 minutes to go in the 1st quarter, O'Brien is gang-tackled in our forward 50 and drops the ball - Play on

Dempsey was pushed in the back (or dangerous tackle) in the goal square - Play on

Deliberate out-of-bounds not paid against Adelaide in the first quarter (or 2nd), no crowd noise so it wasn't paid. Then they paid 2 against us which were clearly not deliberate.

There were so many other examples.

Blatent bias.
Clark was clearly legged + nothing

Wasn't that pretty much the pattern of the night?

Gryan decapitated in a tackle...play on. Ollie clear in the back in the goal square...play on. ROB hanging onto the ball while tackled then just dropping it...play on.

The frees the Crows got were mostly there, it's just they weren't paying anything our way.

What about the dangerous tackle call? Was it there, or a bit tough and ump over reacted?

ITB by Crows happened all night, no free kicks to Geelong players.
The Clark legging at the beginning of Q3 wasn't replayed. Even BT said: "Clark, no free kick." It was just play on with Crows having possession.

I'm not sure it's bias, more incompetence.
It's both. Umpires gave more free kicks to Adelaide + ignored blatant free kicks, which Geelong should have been paid.

MO'C got pretty blatantly legged at one point as well. No free kick, because of course not.

Tell ya what... F*** the Crow fans salty still and booing Danger tickled me last night
Remember how head f****d they were when he left, anyone on social media/BF saw them declaring that he was going to a club going backwards, they'd be a better side than Geelong. Crows did make a granny without him and got smacked, also won a spoon didn't they? And have been a nothing club basically since.
Cats have missed finals once since danger moved, he's played in what half a dozen prelims, 2 granny's.. Has a flag and was probably a straight kick away from a Norm 😂
I'm not sure he's got a single regret for moving...
And..Moggs creek is a long drive from Adelaide

So what I’ve gleaned from the media, we beat the Saints but they were more impressive than the cats in that game and then beat the pies so they’re right up there. Crows are a really hard team to beat at home but lost the game because they ‘let’ Geelong do what they wanted & really should’ve won but missed late chances (ignoring that Geelong had 5 shots in a row before the Crows run and missed them all). They're reluctantly saying now Geelong could make the finals but won’t compete with Giants, Swans, Blues, Dees and Pies.
I know we had an average year last year but we still won the 22 Premiership by 81 points.

I think the Giants and the Swans look super but I’m not sold on the Blues or Dees.

Still a long way to go in this season. But I love this club and love that they keep on giving themselves the best chance to contend.

Geelong missed the finals in 2006, in 2007 Selwood stepped straight in and played 21 games based on form and made us better. He was never gifted games, he was however managed during games.

I'm not knocking Clark, I'm not sold on him like most seem to be.
Fair enough, not saying Clark will be another Joel but the comparison in terms of size , endeavour and playing style are very warranted IMHO👍

I’m fine with that. Holmes did the same and my immediate response was outrage but then I thought about it. Imagine he did go for that ball and gets smashed missing a month of footy. I reckon the coaches have said to some of the lighter framed players no point getting flattened and missing a month or more when there is no benefit in that particular contest or you will get cleaned up. Particularly with new concussion rules.

Footy is changing, we might see more players ‘shirking’. If it means they stay on the park that’s okay with me.

Yes agree with that analysis

Great team performance. Blicavs is a nightmare matchup for opposition midfielders. Thought Parfitt was incredible.
Clark very solid. Back 6 were all exceptional.

Will be very interested to see how Conway goes in the VFL today. Surely he gets a run against Hawks.

Was good in the vfl today. Some of the older guys will miss one of the next 2 so id say conway should play easter monday.
