Just a disgusting performance. Gutless, dumb and inept. Threw away a double chance home final. Now we get the ignominy of the pretence of top four but straight sets likely and a Prelim loss at best.

Sickening stuff Cats. Yuck yuck yuck.

Its sickening but i think sydney are gettable up there.

collingwood nearly did it for goodness sake.

Ollie Henry was absolutely hung out to dry tonight. In the second half the amount of times we kicked long to him in a 2 on 1 was staggering.

Wilkie did what he had to, but we made it so easy for him.

Rohan was either nowhere to be seen or we failed to kick it to him. If Henry is in a 2 on 1 Rohan should have been free. But he was nowhere. What the hell was going on with that?
Feels like our entries got stupid in the second half. Just putting too much on the entry, no one running for a short option.

I think there's a lot to the idea that they were just gassed. They're we a saints outnumber at the fall of the ball at seemingly every contest. They outnumbered us everywhere. Just worked way harder.

I just don’t know why they won’t give Hardie a go. He is basically the top disposal getter every week in the twos.

He has clearly showed he is a better player “right now” then either Knevitt or Mullin.

Bews is also very clearly better than Mullin.

So what is the ****ing go here, we are playing players based on “Potential” rather than best available with top 2 on the line.

Bews is cooked.

Hardie is decent enough but i can see structurally why they think he doesnt fit..legspeed is an issue there.

Henry wasnt the issue rohan was as was our ball use. When we lowered our eyes inside 50 in thr first hf it was ok.
Hawkins is physically done too far back.

Rohan frustrated the hell out of me in the 3rd term. The Saints were all over us, had kicked 3 or 4 quick ones and we couldn't get our hands on the ball at all. He took a mark on the flank and instead of slowing it down and letting us get a breather and some resemblance of control back, he goes to play on and shanks it out on the full.

Surely Ollie Henry, Knevitt and Mullin cannot play next week. Ollie Henry should not play again in 2024. He just doesn't understand that effort is part of his job description. I don't think Knevitt has what it takes and Mullin is running out of time to show he has something. Our depth is lacking but anyone would be better than these 3 players.
Henry can, Knevitt and Mullin can't

A completely predictable season 24 result.
We returned from WA and started well, nothing left in second half against a team that is fit, at their home, massive rev-up at half time, something to prove. And we just could not keep up.
Sad, but not unexpected.
If we don't get up next week, again, no drama, it's just where the season is at, but fully hope we do as we'll be there- massive trip there for us Gomers.

We will win easily next week but thats not the point.

Rightly or wrongly henry will stay in and rohan will get dropped instead.

I doubt mullin and knevitt play again this year.

I do see a spot for mullin depending on injuries. He limited Hill tonight so has a done and that burst on the wing he created with speed resulted in a goal for us. He has the intensity for finals if called upon. Knevitt has shown nothing and should go back to the VFL

I was going to say this.

I was at the game. The number of times both O Henry and Neale got into good positions for a kick straight onto their chests, and we instead sent slow high floaters on top of their heads to allow the defenders to easily kill it, was infuriating. I was literally screaming out "NOOO!" as soon as it left the kickers boot over and over again.

I understand the temptation to blame Henry and Neale and the other forwards, but a lot of our F50 delivery was atrocious.

Yes that was very dumb. Its like we were trying to overspeed them with a slow side. Message should have gone out to all the players. Or maybe it did and they didnt implement.

You could tell very early in the second half. Saints players were just running away from us in the contest, and we couldn’t pick up our legs.

It is not a usual trait of ours to just not try, so I can only think it was that last weeks game just knocked us about too much.

Here for the melts
Let us somehow dig very, very deep + be gracious ☺️

You begin, here I go.
Off I go
Ooops!

I’m rarely a bad loser. . .still, from my perspective, Lyon began with a stifling strategy + we dominated. Then Lyon turned on StK forward line, unexpected, + annihilated us 🤬

To be fair, that type of capitulation has been an unpleasant addition to our game at times this year, so it's not surprising for us to serve another dose.

But it makes it all the more disappointing to do it with so much riding on the result. Unforgivable to blow a six goal lead in basically five minutes of football and offer little resistance for the rest of the half with a potential home QF on the line.

Concerns, and this is just a few of them.

Jez. For our highest paid player, he gave us very little when we need him the most.

Mitch Duncan. St Kilda bring on a runner, we bring on a guy who should be retiring. It's not on him, but he's not the guy to change or impact a game that's in the balance. I cringe when I see him often isolated as the last man, and it happens too often.

Ollie Henry. When things aren't going his way he's the biggest liability out there. Why he was not subbed is staggering. He's struggling to have any impact and his inability to halve a contest is killing us.

Midfield depth. We all know it.

I thought the defence was good at times. Jack Henry was really solid, Lawson outstanding in the first half, but faded.
Jack Bowes was good all night, but too many vanished after half time.

Look, we don't really deserve top four when we've won 7 from 15. But after last week I thought we may have turned the corner, but tonight probably confirms what we all suspected - that we're not good enough this year, and in a shit standard season, that's frustrating, as there's a flag there for the taking.

I actually think long term mullin will be good (i like the way he plays) but he makes critical errors (fair enough hes very new) and he cant play again this year if we are going to win the flag.

At least we are aware now of what we should expect, and no more ridiculous comments by some that we ARE good enough to pinch it this year. We simply are not, but making top 4 is. still an outstanding achievement with the wholey team we have.

You can defend Ollie Henry if you want, bad delivery, etc. But he was pathetic. You still have to try when the ball doesn't come in lace out. He looks like he is playing kick to kick with his mates at a BBQ.
