GAME PLAN
Melbourne played a short chipping game. Their patience allowed them to break through our defence effectively and denied us run and carry from the back half.. Consequently, we struggled to capitalize on our strengths and initiate fluid ball movement. Their defensive efforts effectively thwarted our attempts to inflict damage on turnovers.

PLAYERS
  • STK needs more body strength against a Max Gawn type player.
  • Hawkins is a liability at the moment. He may make space but is that enough? We need a forward that kicks goals. Sadly he is not near it at the moment.
  • Blicavs has lost form
  • Our ruck problems persist
  • Jack Henry is in trouble one on one at the moment. Does some nice things but is costly
  • If Conway is fit he plays.
POSITIVES
  • Stengles, Olly Henry and Holmes are champions
  • Tanner Bruhn will be / is a star.
  • Clark needs another couple of seasons and could be a GOAT.
  • Atkins has a go.
UMPIRES
No matter how good you are you cannot beat the umpires

CONCLUSION
We were outplayed and outcoached by a better side on the day.
Our 2 key forwards were non-existent and our game plan was exposed.
We need to give Neale a go.
First loss for the year and it hurt.

Worst game Jack Henry has played.

Darwin's gonna be a toughie in humid conditions. Have we ever played there before?
Been awhile since they had a game up there I think?

Dees took their chances tonight and no excuses they played well…I think a few of the players need a rest after the Port game which isn’t going to be easy too

They kicked 10 goals and the majority would have been from brain dead decisions, skill errors u12s would be embarrassed of and allowing them to chip the ball up the field with no resistance.

Not to mention the number of fantastic opportunities we butchered

By no means the end of the world but I hate losing close ones when we do so much to hurt our own cause

Can perhaps forgive the apparent lack of intensity and effort - Dees had 3 days' break on us, plus maybe our hangover from Brisbane carried over to this week instead of last week.

In a way I guess it's pleasing most of our best players were the young blokes and most of the shockers were older.

Keep in mind most of us were saying they'd take 2-2 through the '4 tough weeks'....we're 2-1 and can play much better against Port at home.

Well done Dees. Gawn, and lever were critical. Maybe Scotty should have put Jezza fwd. The game was blistering quick and we needed him up forward , not blowing hi mself up around the ground

With the way Jezza was kicking tonight, the bench may have been the safest spot

Holmes and Zuthrie were awesome. Jack Henry was a liability and SDK still frustrates me but wasn't as bad as Henry. Can forgive Jezza a bad one. Good sign that we played so beneath ourselves but were still right in it until the end.

He had a fair dinkum crack. Some of it worked, some of it didn't.

On a night where many (mainly some of the highest paid) played like they couldn't be arsed, you can't ask for much more from him.
Yeah Atkins would we waaaay down the list of players you'd be bagging tonight.....

Bound to have a drop off at one stage. What Jezza giveth one week, he takes away the next.

The Jack Henry effect in full flight tonight, turns Petty into prime Carey, then duffs it and Fritsch gets the sealer.

Thought Stengle, Zach Guthrie, Atkins and Clark all showed plenty tonight, Ollie was ok, SDK looks to be getting more involved.

Duncan and Jack Henry were very, very, very poor, and Hawk needs a break, or a run in the twos, he’s miles from it at the moment.

No one to blame but ourselves on that one.

Barry crocker from the start.... and we were lucky the Demons were as s**t as we were as it could have been a 10 goal blow out if they kicked straight.

File it away and on to next week.

At least we've seen how bad we can be lol

GO Catters

This.

We shouldn't review this as 'how close we were' but 'how lucky we were to be so close'.

We were poor. Very poor.

The Dees doubled their score in the last quarter.

Much to consider.

That should be the end of Stanley, comprehensively outplayed and also offered nothing around the ground.

Jack Henry would want to to take a long hard look at himself. I’m one of his biggest fans but his effort was disgraceful, I would actually drop him if we didn’t need him for structure.

Duncan and Touhy we’re both terrible and Blitz gave us nothing as well.

Cameron, sigh, you get a mulligan but **** Me the was horrific.

I don’t think Stewart was right either because while not terrible he did nothing very good either.

I don’t know, when we play like that I just get angry, because some of the team just jog around like they don’t give a **** and it pisses me off.
