The Cats will finish in the top 8, I suspect. But the premiership window is well and truly closed.
Not even sure of that to be honest, reckon Port might give us a shake at home next week, we are far too inconsistent. I'd be happy to miss finals to be honest, guys like Danger and Stewart need a kick up the ass

Well...It's Melbourne's year, it's blindingly obvious. We won't change that and neither will any other side.

It won't happen but I'd prefer us to play the kids, maybe drop a few more games as consequence, but get some much valued experience into our youth as well as getting a top 10 pick to get the rebuild well and truly on the right track. Pick up a Bruhn and a Jhye Clark and things look pretty good all of a sudden, just have to be patient.

Sounds far more appealing than finishing 7th and getting flogged in the first final, or failing in another prelim.

Danger was overall a liability tonight sorry to say. Far too long coming up with plans to cover up a losing ruck but it’s on the coaching group - not good enough. Too slow too slow too slow, in close.

Miers is a good player... his not a terrible poor player, but his out of form massively... The more he keeps playing, and plays terrible all of us fans hate the player more...
He needs to be dropped and play the VFL for a few weeks, ( not just for 1 or 2 games ) has to be for 4 plus weeks..

But that's a reason alot of people don't like Chris Scott as keeps playing players that deserves to be dropped, and gives the fans the sh!T's

How did Narkle miss this list?
Miers to be banished to the VFL until he learns how to put his head over the ball. He seems to be playing a bit of Menegola's typical wing role but is not a patch on the contest and physicality Sam brings.

Narkle the outside FLOATER.
Looks like a gazelle when free on the run, but refuses to get over the ball, or show any haste in defending.
Opportunists are only so useful, I've defended him up until now.

Cats looked good until Q3... what happened?
They started the slow chip pass possession game.
There was a clear reluctance to kick long to a contest
Instead searching for the perfect pass to an open teammate
This is the signal for the opposition to increase the pressure.
Saints flooded the short kick zone and manned up long options.
Every Cats handball and baulk increased pressure until inevitable turnover
The Saints were in position to rebound quickly and gained momentum.
Cats tried to regain possession via the short slow possession game.
Our forwards went into defense to help out.
Every rushed Cats kick forward was picked off by the Saints defensive wall.
The game was played in our defensive half.
Yet we continued to play a loose zone two steps away from making a contest.
They ran us in circles as we kept missing tackle after tackle.
Our scoring opportunities became rare and the few we had were squandered.

Until Scott figures a way to stop the opposition and regain momentum.. expect more capitulations.

The problem is even though we have some good players coming through most other teams are better positioned.

Players that will not be at the club the next time we have a crack should be moved on.

Keep some experience to bring the other players some guidance and that is it

Everyone says that we need to play the kids, but who's seriously available next week?

I understand why Stephens was sub tonight but surely he's in the best 22 next week.

Evans?

Neale, Dempsey, Knevitt have talent but still need more time and you can't play them all at once.

The rest are injured.

If 4 youngsters (21 and under) can cement their spots in our best 22 for 2023 that's a good result. DeKoning. Tick. Holmes. Tick. Stephens, Neale, Dempsey, Knevitt, Evans?

Where does this leave Scott in light of Hocking's KPI's, according to your source / info?

What a shit 3rd quarter, and it’s ultimately what cost us the match

Across the four quarters we fumbled the ball too often, had expierenced players repeatedly drop marks and all too often struggled to actually hit targets with ball in hand which meant we made things hard work for ourselves

It’s easy to look at the younger players or those on the fringes, but all too often today the errors were coming from our senior experienced players - it’s still a few weeks until our bye, so instead a Sunday gathering with the players getting together & a few hard words being said, seems like a good option

I think those players are just as much to blame as the kids on a regular basis, but too many look the other way depending on how big the name is.

Come on man, you got a lot of Captain Hindsight about you lately. Some comment before the fact and get it wrong at times.

P.S. Shame about Wednesday. Was hoping they’d come back up. Hopefully Forest knock off the Blades.
Blades will win as God hates Wednesday.

We played average over the two legs, you just cannot win when you play so defensively.

No touches and still better than the negative contributions of Duncan and Stewart.

It says a lot that our sub who didn't get on the field & thus finishes with a zero rating for the day, actually ranks higher on that graph than Knevitt or Close

Knevitt is a second game kid, he's now had a taste of things but back to the VFL to continue to work on his game

Close was disappointing today, and other than that shot in the 4th quarter I don't recall seeing him involved during the match - can't even say I was disappointed in him today as I actually forgot he was playing...
