I'm sure they'll be fine. They could be sick or jobless (or worse), like millions across the world right now. Worse places to be than a at a hub with your team mates.

Why not do a hub in NorthernTerritory? Good weather, can be crowds, i just don't understand why it just has to Queensland....
Then it won't advantage the Queensland teams
Lack of grounds, lack of accommodation and lack of broadcast facolities.

I know the AFL are trying to get the dreamtime game into NT, but the issue is there are no broadcast camera equipment or trucks, so they need to work out how to get that into the state (territory).

ask them that again in 26 days.

2 teams in Alice Springs, 3 teams in Darwin, and they can fly between each other... fixed.. There be enough accommodation, if like that and footy ovals...

Um but you do get that teams have to play teams from other hubs right so teams would be flying every week. If all teams are in the same hub thats a hell of a lot less flights and hotel changes. Much better for player sanity.

I know clubs are going to fly out of qld and into SA and wa for games but the surfaces in qld are going to cop a hiding.

The Gabba might be better than expected as they didn't over sew it with summer grass last year due to the tight timeframe for cricket.

Might help.

It should have been all done in one state at the very start, it was the only realistic way to do things. Sucks for players with families though.

Im confused. Does geelong go the queensland hub after the perth games or do we stay based in perth for the rest of the season?
I believe we'll be heading to Qld once our current WA matches have concluded.

This is from an earlier article:

In a video hook-up with club CEOs on Wednesday morning, AFL bosses revealed that eight of the 10 Victorian clubs would be based in Queensland for the remainder of the Toyota AFL Premiership Season, with two of the 10 - currently Collingwood and Geelong, soon to be Hawthorn and Carlton – based for short-term periods in Perth.

My reading of that is we'll see 2 Vic teams at a time flying to WA for short terms, while the other 8 teams remain in Qld

For the WA games, you have to be in perth for 14 days before you can play the two WA teams. So two vic clubs fly to WA, arrive on Day 0. Day 7 they play each other, then Day 14+21 they play each of the WA clubs. So every 2 weeks, 2 new Vic clubs will fly over and isolate in order to play the two WA teams, week after play each other and so on.

After we play Pies, Freo, Eagles we'll travel to WA, where we'll stay for the remainder of the season based on current plans.
