Aren't we building for the future? Wouldn't Talia get preference over Williams who has had his chances to prove himself.

Gia and Dickson dont work together, too similiar.

A bit disappointed that Talia has been dropped again, but it really does seem he's being challenged by the coaching staff so if some hard luck & discipline is needed then I'm all for it to get him where they know he can be.

Stevens looks like he could take a break, he puts his body on the line & something has to give eventually. Plus, he had a stinker against Essendon. MB is understandable, he needs to be managed in the early days but again disappointing because he could have had a better initiation into AFL against a team largely filled with spuds.

Williams will play forward so dropping him instead Talia wouldn't make sense. Roberts deserves a chance but I didn't think Talia has been all that bad.

Named at full back. Against Pederson, Dawes, Howe, Watts and Frawley he'll be needed back pretty much the whole game.

Don't mind the team but agree its really harsh on Talia and Stevens too. Although Stevens looks like he could use a break. Also can understand Roberts coming in for Talia because he definitely deserves a run and Talia wasn't great last week, hopefully he can make an impact and force us to keep him in the team. Probably would have preferred Morris, Roberts and Talia down back and Williams forward but its a little inexperienced so can understand them wanting Williams back down there as well, and who knows where they will line up still wouldn't be surprised to see Williams play forward.

Gia will be sub and should be a handy inclusion, and Tutt deserves a run because he was good when he played AFL and has been one of our best in the VFL for a few weeks now so he had to come in, offers us a fair bit too. Happy for Bonts to keep playing full games in the 2s but really he should have probably either played a full game last week or played in the VFL.

So I think the outs might be a little harsh but overall I really like the team. No excuses this week we need to win.

Don't mind the ins, Gia would have been great last week as sub even with Dickson in the team.
Stevens is unlucky, was asked to do some strange jobs last week. Talia also wasn't great but I'd like to see him get a good run. Bonts I don't mind, happy for him to get a good run in the VFL.
But can't fit everyone in, it seems it will be two of Roberts/Talia/Williams for now.

Viney got off, He will play!

So did I.............I'm sorry.

I do actually have a reason for entering the thread, a question.

A mate of mine is a Doggies fan and I don't watch a lot of your boys and he has a hatred of Tom Williams and constantly calls him a shit player. I've seen nothing of him and I want to ask, is this some irrational hatred or not?

I don't think he will spend much if any time down back unless the Dees switch a few players around to exploit. Frawley is massive doubt to play and Howe has played defence all year. Morris and Roberts go to Dawes and Frawley, Wood to Watts and Stringer to Pederson. I'm pretty confident we can contain that but if all hell breaks loose than you have the option to move Williams back.

He's missed about 120 games worth with injuries, been serviceable when he's played and is a genuinely nice, funny bloke, so yes, it is an irrational hatred.

As for Viney, what the hell's wrong with the media? Missed a golden chance to splash 'JACK OFF' over the front page of every news website in the country.

One of the funniest things I've seen all week. Bravo.

I thought it may be the case.

They surprisingly have more class than I do.

:D

so who will crossy go to... Boyd, maybe even MaCrae. He could do a lot of damage floating across half back in front of our tall forwards

I know about the love for Cross , but he has never been a damaging player. I maybe one out here , but I don't mind him lining up in opposing team.

I'm not worried about him involving himself in melbourne goals don't think he will have that impact, but he probably will save a few, I can bet bottom dollar that he does so, especially when he drifts in front of our forwards and takes some contested marks. Pretty underrated part of his game has always been his marking ability.

There is a bigger picture here that we can't see. That I am sure of.

Would have liked the bont to be playing, happy with fletch in, but would have likes Talia to keep his spot. But like I said, bigger forces at play.
I think its just the coaching staff aren't liking a certain part or habit in his game, probably something he does when he doesn't have the ball that us fans don't notice/care about.

I don't think they've tried to hide that, I'm pretty sure they have actually said a couple of times thats the case.

Part of the bigger picture I think is that the future, Bonts, Smith, Hrovat, Honeychurch, Prudden etc are getting game time together as a unit in the VFL at a lesser intensity than could be expected in the seniors. The time together in that environment with specific goals and KPIs for each plus time as a combination will pay dividends in the (near) future. This VFL team is a godsend.
I think both Tutt and Roberts have earned their call ups by all reports and Talia and Stevens were the ones to go. Stevens, at this stage, is part of our delivery inside 50 problem IMO. Better ball users like Hunter and Stringer might see more time in the middle. Talia looks a bit out of sorts to me (can't put an exact finger on it but if I was to nominate something I'd say intensity). Tutt has speed and hopefully will back himself to keep running and take the shot. Gia I can see starting with JJ as sub. When JJ comes on Murph or Higgins could play more forward.

I watched Talia on Daniher. Daniher didn't end up doing much damage but he consistently had mountains of space on a lead. Didn't strike me that Talia had much discipline. Was told Tutt had been told he wasn't getting a game until he put his head over it so he's obviously done something to reassure the coaches, which is good. Was told that smith has been told he needs a three week block in the VFL before being considered, starting before his blitz weekend before last. Hopefully he will get a run soon.

He had athletic abilities when we drafted him, not many 196 have his aerobic capacity, speed, and athleticism - he's one of the few players that actually played well on Buddy when he was at his peak.

However all the injuries to about twenty different parts on his body has disturbed any development and continuation in his game. He didn't play a single game in the first two years that he was on our list, despite being a number 6 pick, and because of injuries.

This may be going back a few years so not sure if it's relevant to your mate or not, but being a player that we "reached" for in the draft with an early pick there's a bit of disappointment with his output from that spot. But his injuries have occured so much that you've just got to accept he is what he is and not look at the draft pick he was taken at or the player he could have been injury free

Whenever they do the "BulldogsTV" thingos, he's one of the best, and seems like a great bloke, so it is a bit of irrational hatred in that sense.
