I kinda hope Mason wood completely tears us apart and those who played with him see what happens when a complete change of mentality can do to a player. Maybe it’ll inspire them? Maybe it’ll make them want to leave…

He’s the $2 shop version of Tom Campbell.

Perez has to be in the mix this week. He’s definitely one of those players that we need to find out whether he’s up to scratch.

Flynn is sadly nowhere near it and not worth a call up

Upon watching the VFL the past few weeks I’d say Mahony, Young, Edwards, Spicer, Harvey, Archer, Perez, Ford, Dawson and Free are nowhere near contention.

Archer had 1 kick and Ford had 3 kicks against the Suns.
Ford hasn’t kicked a goal since round 1 FYI

Wardlaw is injured.

Bonar we know what he brings but we have too many medium sized defenders but if they shift Logue forward then we might bring him in. I personally wouldn’t but then what would I know.

If Bergman is healthy he must come in for Hall.
Phillips played well in the praccy against St Kilda so he comes in for Powell.
LDU and Greenwood as well but if LDU needs another week then that’s fine by me.
Lazzaro is the interesting one he seems to have hit some form but I don’t trust him to bring anything to the AFL side. Maybe Sub?
Drury should definitely come in but it’s up to Clarko to pull the trigger.

Way I see it
OUTS: Comben CCJ and potentially Powell
INS: LDU Greenwood Phillips

Then if Drury and Bergman get a look in we can try and turf Turner and Hall. Like for like swaps.
Lazzaro sub.

Just bloody do it Clarko

A couple of things that have hurt as well this yr Tarryn going awol, and possibly not coming back. Losing JHF and being replaced by Sheezel , a positive but already probably taking more on than he should. Then Wardlaw who hasn’t played yet so we are starting from scratch with a new player again . Losing Xerri ,who was going to replace Goldstein ,too another negative. This is all combining and delaying our , yet again new start .
What’s if? Imagine LDU, TT and JHF had been in the side against Melbourne? We can at least put two of them on the park this weekend surely?

Another bloodbath incoming. Calling it now, Tim membrey will kick a bag

I can actually kind of tolerate Howe tbh. He has no future with us but I see Turner and Hall as being more immediately detrimental to the team, and Bergman and Drury seem like relatively easy switches to make. There's just so much uphill work to do. You replace the bottom few players in the team and then the next bottom few players really aren't much better. But first we have to replace the injured players lmao. Pain. I'd like to see both Hall and Turner dropped but if we already have 3 out due to injury I'm not sure how likely it is given Clarko made it sound like he'd prefer to incrementally add kids to the team rather than full on rip the bandaid. Really hoping that JZ pulled up fine, I suspect he will considering just how influential he was after he came back on but you never know with these things.

I don't overly rate Howe either but it is a fair point to make between say him and Turner (or some others). First job in football surely has to be getting your hands on it (or an opponent) more than 2-3 times a game. That gives you something to work with and then if you are replaced down the line so be it.

My ideas

FB JZ McKay Corr
HB LMac Logue sheezel
C Scott Simpkin Bergman
HF Stephenson Larkey greenwood
FF Curtis CZ Cunnington
FOL Goldy LDU Phillips
INT Ford Tucker Drury Perez
SUB Lazarro

ASSUMPTIONS/NOTES
-CCJ/Comben/Powell Injured
-Judging by Clarkos comments we will start playing kids
-I cut a lot of players, I couldn’t cut them all

Come down to Bay 29 this week. Whether the boys go alright or not, I’ll be there drinking potentially lethal amounts of mid-strength beer and chomping into my life savings in the process.

Honestly what is the point of playing all of
Howe, tucker, corr, Turner, hall.

They’re all absolute garbage, have proven to be unsuccessful and we’d do no worse without them.
Can we trade them all for Mason Wood?..... Saints paid nothing for him, they gotta be happy with that return!

Outs: Comben, CCJ, Powell (all inj) Turner, Taylor
Ins: LDU, Mahony, Ford, Free, Greenwood.
Philips to be the sub.

Bergman and Young to miss out from the extended bench.

You lost me at Bonar. Has had enough chances to confirm he has no attacking flair or defensive mongrel in him.

Would rather the young kid Drury be given a chance.

The bloke literally only has defensive mongrel. Not when you play him on Charlie curnow or superstar key forwards, but I’m convinced that he’s a better defender than Corr. At least now he can handball to sheezel or ziebell who can actually kick the footy.
