Frederick should definitely play. No idea why he is on the outer when he consistently is one of our best in the SANFL and every AFL game he is played he has looked reasonable or better.

Out: Duursma, McKenzie, Lycett, Rozee
In: Sinn, Skinner, Hayes, Motlop

Rozee needs a bit of a kick up the arse now. Needs to be made to earn his spot back, because he's playing like a guy who doesn't give a shit.

I hope we go hyper aggressive in the back half versus Hawthorn.

If the likes of Houston, Bonner, Burton, Amon (add Sinn in the mix) keep the form up in terms of outside impact and we’ve got Allir & Skinner generating intercepts we should be making our flakey forwards look like absolute money against a lower tier side.

Edit: So pick Skinner & Sinn for Trent & Duursma.

I’d also pick Hayes but Ken prob won’t.

I’m really not sure about Duursma as best 22. His strength is his running capacity but if Houston and Amon are #1 wing choices and if Sinn proves to be as damaging as he looks to be once he gets up to speed, where does that leave Xavier?

Fighting it out with Bergman as a depth hard runner?

So many could go out, but 'play it safe' Ken will probably only swap out the injured players. Honestly I'd take all those injured last night sitting on the bench for the whole of our round 2 game then seeing Lycett out there again. Should have been out for Hayes multiple times last year, shouldn't have started over him this year, that he'll almost certainly get a game over him next week will ensure I have no regrets next weekend for not getting a membership this year and being at AO. Even if we win it'll be off a flaky gameplan and individual brilliance.

put the cue in the rack and blood the youth

we won't win a flag whilst boak, gray, lycett, dixon, marshall, jonas, motlop, mckenzie in the side. The bolded are good players but age works against them, given the time to rebuild.

Xav to HFF and free up rozee to the middle

Not a bad idea.

Rozee is lazy when playing in attack.

Make him accountable, by playing him on ball as an outside mid, or as a sweeper transitioning across the lines for quick rebounding into the forward 50.

X can roam the front half, providing leads into open space, and applying defensive intensity and two way running which we lack up front atm.

I'm a little uncomfortable selecting a full back with the height to do the job. This has not been tried for years and I'm uncertain this is the right decision. If only we hadn't traded out Sam Gray

LOL. We can’t win a flag at the moment without Dixon.

We can win the flag this year, the side is good enough but we need a really good run and Dixon to play out of his skin.

We know we don’t have the coaching to make things happen when we are down and we have a mentally weak side that are prone to not turning up and crumbling under pressure which we saw last night.

we are miles off the dees and dogs

lions, cats, giants and swans all have our measure on the day. even the blues may have passed us. We are a solid 4th to 9th best side.

our peak in this premiership window just isn't good enough and I feel we strive for the best we can each week. Rather than "we exist for premierships". One is a business model of a franchise and the other the Port Adelaide I expect.

Our best is easily good enough, probables is we have a dud coach who is less than useless on game day who doesn’t make changes and who’s only tactic is work harder.

Second to that we have a mentally fragile side who is prone to not turning up (see last years prelim) and fell apart when the heat was on late last night.

This two things don’t help you win flags, but let’s not kid ourselves about our best not being good enough.

At our best we can definitely beat any of the teams you’ve listed at their best, problem those sides don’t have the Hinkley factor to deal with.

I look at last year and we had so many things work against us but we managed to continue winning. This suggests the coach was able to generate results with a skeleton crew.

I don't like Ken but this highlights he isn't our only problem.

the reality is we don't have a full back (195+cm)
we don't have decent targets in the forward line
we don't have a ruckman

without addressing this in the off season, suggests we have a ceiling in what we can achieve this year

We’re not getting anywhere near Melbourne flagwise unless Petracca, Lever and Gawn go down.

Melbourne have arguably a top 3 player in the comp in their position in mid-forward (Petracca prob not classified as a mid forward but he is a powerhouse offensive mid), key defenders (Lever) and ruck (Gawn).

I think we should be investing in everything and anything that’s different from how we’ve done it in the past few years and see how we go - but Ken won’t be thinking like that.

Not ready yet, I think we'd play Finlayson or Burton as a key defender before him at this stage.
Yeah ok, I've only seen Pasini play once I think, so hard to rate him.

Finlayson into defence and Skinner into the side I think. Assuming Aliir and McKenzie out.

Motlop for Duursma. Sinn/McEntee/Frederick sub.

Hayes for Lycett.
