Changes for the Richmond game

We are in the home stretch now, and it's clear from the last few games, that teams have worked us out - in terms of numbers around/off the ball. I'm not surprised Sando is now looking to tweak the structure (one less tall) as well as looking at players that haven't had much of a chance up to now - particularly if it's felt they may/could have an influence come finals time. Stiffy, when fit and firing, will be straight back into the side, but I'm not convinced he'll get his old job back. Time will tell I guess. Sad for Jaensch, I think he is a good user of the ball (kicking skills some of the best in the side), but I think he's shown a fair bit more than most expected this year (given that most expected he would never get picked!), so I wouldn't be surprised to see him back either. Hope Knights makes the most of his opportunity (and that he's given more than one!). Him and Vince back to their best would just add another dimension to our team.
Every team get analyzed looking for weakspots to the gameplan ....doesn't mean we have been worked out

IMO we are not executing anywhere as good as early in the season.

For example early on our tackling and in particular smothers were a feature .....when was the last smother a Crows player has done?

Be rapt if Henderson gets back in. Very unlucky to have been squeezed out imo. Was developing nicely in defence.

Just needs stiffy to get back and the side will look much better.

Yep it would be a waste for Smith or Knights to be the sub, must be bloody hard, you force your way back in and then you've got to sit on the pine and you've got maybe 30 minutes to make an impact and stake a claim for the following week. You don't have the benefit of ripping it up in the SANFL to get you the attention for a call up.

Special J will be playing next year. No question. As long as he plays half forward/wing where he will be absolutely damaging...
Maybe, but i can see him being just as damaging to us unless he develops a defensive side to his game. He has no impact on a contest so I'm not sure how he intends to gain possession to use his "sublime" foot skills in the forward 50. He is too one dimensional to be a success at this level with too many deficiencies to justify a spot on the list.

Anyone want to recant their views in this thread. How many of us dropped Douglas, Porps and Martin?

I think a lot of it (not all), was Douglas and Martin being played out of position. Porps finally threw caution to the wind and was rewarded.

Fwiw, I would have Martin as sub.

Would still drop Doughty, maybe Reilly.

Porps good, but a footy season isn't one week.

Should be dropped, wont be dropped  Prob minimal changes next week depending on how Pets, VB, Callinan pull up, i expect Tex to be on a nice little two week holiday, would be nice to see Luke Brown get a gig in the Showdown :thumbsu: As long as Shaun McKernan stays as far away from the side as humanly possible.....

I think id keep Doughty over Reilly. Doughty was bad today but can do a good lock down job. The only thing Reilly has done the last 6 weeks is gift goals to the opposition. Did anyone see that one on one when Reilly grabbed his opponents arm didn't get anywhere near the ball, Richmond player still marked it and lead to a goal? Insipid weak effort.

Johncock or Henderson would give us a lot more drive.

Reilly is not going to get dropped, even though he was back to his error ridden best today. Dogga might actually be under the pump for the first time this year. Not sure who replaces him though, he may not have a direct replacement.
