Dawson is going to spend a lot of time down back with the midfield we’ve named. Nicks is shitting himself without Murray
likely matchups for us

Butts - Dixon
Worrell - Marshall
Keane - Finlayson

Not horrendous from our end - as long as Keane can come in and settle at AFL level as Finlayson is a bloody accurate kick when he gets his chance at goal

No Rioli to sit in Max's back pocket - who will he take this week?

I really hope Hinge stays on the wing for most the game. I really like his attitude and energy, plus his raking left foot even if it’s not accurate all the time :)
Another season under his belt and he could be something special.
Hinge should have been playing on the wing all year. Instead we persisted with Sholl until Nick's had no alternative but to drop him.

I really don't .....my views on Crouch go back 3 years, a full year B4 I advocated he be traded over Brad

My views on Sloane are also well documented ....but I also advocated last year, his days in the midfield are over

Now, that said .....we are correctly trying to win games ....it is critical to the messaging from Nicks, that the players believe that too
After 4 years .....it's selection on merit, building connectivity & chemistry within the team ......that's far more valuable than experimenting .....and that's what some want

Remember, we viewed Cook on stats, and a few nice things with ball in hand ......I really don't think many from their lounge chair, can view his defensive efforts & positioning

I still agree, if we had to play Crouch, Sloane had to be "managed" and act as the Sub ....but I'm happy with the balance of the side, given our injuries / suspensions

God you post some nonsense. "Building chemistry" with players that shouldn't be on our list next year is the priority. ****ing lol.

Jones happier too... as now when a defender gets injured, he isn't 1st to go back...

Put it this way, we have 3 players that can’t play any where else.
Laird can play the full game like he always does.
Pedlar won’t be getting more minutes with less flexible players.
We can’t sub out multiple slow players and it accounts for no injuries.
Not arguing the Midfield cupboard is still half stocked .....Hopefully Taylor, Berry cmon next year ....more Pedlar & Rachelle CBA's ......and don't discount Nankervis as a potential Mid

This year though ....options are limited for all the reasons fully discussed

Why not more Berry & Soligo this weekend?

Why wait...

So if it’s “selection on merit” how the f does Murphy continue to be in our first 22 - his 4 disposal game would have seen him dropped from Mitchell Parks C grade. We have ploughed games into McHenry and everyone can see he is not a damaging AFL player.

Crouch surely will not be on our list next year - if he is we are failing.

Why even try to make finals rather than truely try to develop for a real crack?

It’s not though, soligo just had a rest and played a decent game in the 2s, we’ve dropped cook from the wing after a decent game.
We are going to get sliced to pieces.
If there was no options there wouldn’t be the unrest.

It's well known in team development .....all the leading Coaches have discussed infinitum, knowing all the habits of the players alongside you, which side they turn ....do they kick or handball .....are they a long kick or shortish

Particularly important for FWD's trying to read teammates up the ground

Every year, every team makes a min 2-3 changes to their best 22 ......injuries, form , delisting .....you will get that connectivity going though with 90% of the team year on year ......that takes 2-3 years

True.

But it is how they are developing him.

He will be great either position. Wish he had him and another guy with the same skillset 8 CM shorter. An elite mid.

The most naturally talented guy on our list and he has a work ethic.

Everyone can see Berry is labouring ......was a week enough for Soligo to recover ? ......no-one knows outside the Club

It seems to me however, they want games into Soligo ....so if he was 100% I'd suggest he would be playing, even over Schoenberg

Everyone can see you didn't watch any sanfl last week... ;)

Probably Powell-Pepper, he is Port's best forward at the moment. The three you listed will kick goals if Port are on top but Powell-Pepper is the one that will win it for them.

Is there any more evidence needed that Nicks is selecting to prolong his coaching career rather than for the clubs development?

Sloane, Crouch, Murphy instead of;

Cook Soligo Hately

its sad that it’s not even surprising

the nice guys of AFL!
Ironically he is fast tracking his demise by picking cooked seniors. He will discover that when he's out of a senior coaching job.

What’s more gutting is Port having the courage to drop Boak and include a young, second game ruckman. They have no problems dropping older, out of form players.
Hayes is injured, Lycett has a small tear in a ligament in his knee...it was ruck Dante Visentin or Brynn Teakle who is more a forward/ruck. Boak has been named as sub.

I think you're underrating Murphy's season .....that said, he will be a depth player, maybe as soon as next year

The 'just throw as much shit at the wall and see what sticks' posting style strikes again. Embarrassing nonsense.

If the chemistry building isn't dependent upon those players playing then it does not excuse their selection. Anyone with a ****ing jot of sense could have worked out that you would better serve future team chemistry by playing players who will be in that future team.

You ...... absolute......... plonk....... ......

Soligo has been out for two weeks and played sanfl last week.

Absolute waste and the perfect way to interrupt someone’s form.
Sub should be someone on the way out not in.
Huh?

Tactical Sub ....designed to influence a game, barring injuries
