There is a few we can at least try but damn no much coming through

Almost have to give some of these guys "one last chance" and play for your career.

Out of the list I would like to see McAdam, Scholl, Schoenberg, McPherson and Worrell. Missing off the list is Lachlan Gollant which shows promise but way to raw and needs to hit the gym for a few years before we see him.

Feel like Big E is another McKernan
McKernan would walk into our team right now, might even make captain.

With all due respect, you didn't miss much
The AFC lists players in order of jumper numbers. The bottom row is players with high jumper numbers, which usually go to rookies and late round recent draftees. It's no coincidence that there are no players vying for selection on that row.

Oops.. I missed the bottom row. Also missing are Strachan and Taylor. I went through the AFC website's player list, to make sure I didn't miss anyone - and managed to miss the entire bottom row. Doh!

I will update my previous post.
I'll look forward to your Ayce Taylor comment because I've only ever seen him play live once...

christ the cupboard is bare. what a sharp decline. so many players im just tired of seeing spud it up repeatedly.

lynch. 14 disposals, no tackles, only a tick over 50% effective. sloane 15 touches 1 tackle. murphy 4 touches. walker 6 touches. kelly 4 touches and -25 meters gained. it falls apart all over the ground. most of these guys are capable of so much better, but it has all just collapsed.

we're paying a nasty price for not playing jones, mchenry and such more. we don't know if these guys will or wont make it when they dont play. we know murphy wont make it. we know walker is finished. so why are we bothering still putting games into people who arent up to it. let alone the disaster of the likes of the gibbs trade.

i'd bring in frampton, hartigan, mcadam and himmelberg at the very least. scholl and butts probably too. need to give these guys 5-10 games to at least prove they're not up to it.

No you don't ever play Mackay ever again. Guy shouldn't even be on our list. What you do is you play the kids. End of year you delist, early retire, trade your ass off. You then draft the most elite talent out there and trade some senior bodies to help the kids. Our current senior bodies don't give a sh*t about our kids or the club for that matter. They care solely about the pay cheque each month and doing as little as possible for it.

I agree.....at the end of the year. We are 3 games in and your right, alot of our seniors look terrible. Would you rather the kids play alongside an atkins type coasting through a game, or someone like mckay who is still largely ineffective, but shows the kids intent and will put his (teeny) body on the line.

Whilst I would have been happy if mckay never made the senior side again, I'd rather see him in than some of the lazy guys who are currently playing.

I don't really care who comes out as the whole team stunk but I'd like to see at a bare minimum Macadam, Scholl and Poholke come in. I think we need to bite the bullet and bring in one of Frampton or Himmelberg also to act as that 2nd ruck. Not fair on Fog or Walker putting them up against guys like Witts.

Give Poholke majority of the game in the middle and give him 3 weeks to see what he has. He has the runs on the board in the SANFL last year to be given a chance. He has only spent small chunks of games in there in his previous stints in the seniors. Our midfield needs something new so may as well give him a shot. If he doesn't perform then bring Schoenberg in next.

I like the approach, put Walker back, he is ideal for a CHF who isn't too quick. He can spoil well, and his delivery is ideal. I would bring in Frampton over Berg but it's a split decision.

Frampton comes in for Lynch
McAdam comes in for Murphy
Schoenberg comes in for Atkins
Gallucci for Seedsman

Sad as it is, its time to make the call on Tex. He's averaging 5 kicks and 1.3 taps per game this year (mind you before this season he was averaging 0.5 taps per year over his career so no great surprise). Not to mention his defensive deficiencies. Not even Himmelburg or Frampton could do worse. He's trying no doubt as he always does, but the body's not responding.

And Fogarty is the same height as Taylor and giving us 0.7 hitouts per game so he's not the answer in ruck.

Obviously we have a shopping list of senior players who are demanding to be dropped - but who do we have to replace them?

Here's a list of players who weren't a part of the massacre yesterday afternoon, and my assessment of where they're at:
  • Riley Knight - Injured. Not AFL standard anyway
  • Bryce Gibbs - Has long since stopped caring and can't be bothered putting in the effort
  • Jordan Gallucci - Not AFL standard
  • Myles Poholke - Not AFL standard
  • David Mackay - Always gives 100%, but isn't always terribly effective, has been moved on to create vacancies for youth. Viable option but only after we've exhausted the list of kids needing games.
  • Kyle Hartigan - Has been moved on to get games into McAsey. Viable option, but only after we've exhausted the list of kids needing games.
  • Tyson Stengle - Suspended.
  • Billy Frampton - Not AFL standard.
  • Shane McAdam - Viable option. Untested, but mature enough and ready to go.
  • Josh Worrell - 1st year draftee KPP. Probably too raw/unready, but I'd still pick him ahead of Frampton & Himmelberg.
  • Harry Schoenberg - 1st year draftee. Probably too raw/unready, but I'd still pick him ahead of Dots & Gooch.
  • Patrick Wilson - Injured. Not AFL standard anyway.
  • Elliott Himmelberg - Not AFL standard.
  • Andrew McPherson - Viable option. Perpetually injured, but currently injury free. Now is as good a time as any to see what he offers.
  • Ronin O'Connor - 1st year draftee. Probably too raw/unready, but I'd still pick him ahead of Dots & Gooch.
  • Lachlan Sholl - Viable option, and hopefully next cab off the rank.
  • Ben Davis - Viable option. Hasn't shown anything in his 2 AFL games so far, but not yet written off completely.
  • Jordan Butts - Viable option. Next cab off the rank if one of our tall defenders (Talia/McAsey/Doedee) needs to be replaced.
  • Ace Taylor - 1st year rookie list draftee. Probably too raw/unready for AFL selection this year.
  • Lachlan Gollant - 1st year draftee. Probably too raw/unready for AFL selection this year.
  • Kieran Strachan - His selection would require an act of desperation. However, with only ROB & Frampton as the only other ruckmen on the list, we may yet be desperate enough to select him.
There really isn't a lot there. Only a handful of players who are ready to go youngsters - McAdam, McPherson, Sholl, Davis & Butts. Every other player on that list has some sort of caveat on their readiness or ability.

EDIT: Updated because I missed 3 players.

DMac not AFL standard regardless if he tries 100%

To be fair, we've only managed to kick 9 goals as a team over the past two weeks!

Yeah he's not doing enough although it seems rough to drop one of the few guys that actually seems to run hard at the opposition. Right now more than half our team isn't even playing with effort which is what's so alarming.
True, but that's no the point. He's not near the standard, quite sad to watch with his desire, and we need to give McAdam a go before Stengle returns.

So you want us to put games into younger players, and then tell us to play Hartigan!

I normally wince at the over reaction from a loss in the changes thread. Not any more. I do feel the issue is not positional. Nobody looked hungry for the ball. I could be wrong but 2nd efforts looked missing across the ground. Changes are often a punishment vs reward thing. A player playing well in the reserves vs a player playing poorly in the seniors. So are we simply punishing or are we rewarding? I am not sure we have players who have earned a spot from our reserves scratch match thing. From memory the showdown scratch match was a similar result to the showdown. The scratch match against the Suns sounds similar to our actual game. Nobody deserves to come in and everyone deserves to be dropped. Hopefully Matthew can fix this in the Nick of time! But it looks like the entire playing group need a good shake up.

Holy heck! We must have walked under a ladder to kick a black cat who broke a mirror or something.

Exactly. He's a role player, similar to Dan Butler or Jason Castagna. He won't win a game off his boot, but he is part of a group of forwards who are supposed to be putting pressure on the oppo. Unfortunately, he appears to be one of the few who are doing it, not helped by the lack of defensive pressure from our mids
