Murray crashing packs is gutsy, but it borders on idiotic at times.

He will absolutely take out one of our own. He needs to learn when to do it and when not to.
Yeah it would be way better if he just stood around waving to the crowd while oppo mark and goal..
A defender watching the ball and his direct opponent can't just assume one of our players is going to win a contest and the ball.
Punch it over the boundary line and set up to win the clearance from throw in.
If you get hit you get hit, that's footy.

Think Billy got thrown to the wolves a little bit

He won't cop a forward the quality of Todd Marshall each week
If only Fog or Thilly got to play on Billy, as he would have played them into form.

Let's assume Sloane is in for Cook.

This weekend we will not be playing Thilthorpe, McAsey, Fogarty, Cook, Pedlar, Berry, Hamill, Worrell, McPherson. All reasonably well developed, highly rated young players.

Not saying it's the right or wrong way to go, but it doesn't look like a rebuild currently.

Sloane and Tex are an integral part of our next flag in the 2030s.

Any chance you wanted to name the number of sub 50 game/sub 24 year old players in the side? It’s almost like we have a list with barely any senior players as we have moved them all on over the last 2 years, just a hunch though.
Ugh. Always leap to the defence. Maybe actually look at the point made.

Let's look at the likely 22.

Jones. Not a young player anymore, 4th year player. Nearly 50 games.
Keays. Experienced player now.
Murphy. Experienced player now.
Crouch. Experienced.
Rachele. Young player, but elite talent who looks like a seasoned player.
Sloane. Experienced.
Dawson. Experienced.
Tex. Experienced.
Brown. Experienced.
Hinge. Mature aged player, relatively inexperienced but not really a young player.
Frampton. Ditto Hinge.
McHenry. Becoming an experienced player, same as Jones, fourth year player.
Schoenberg. 33 games, youngish, but starting to make his mark as a third year player.
Laird. Experienced player.
Rowe. Mature aged player despite his games played, isn't really a young player (worth comparing more to McHenry and Jones)
Smith. Experienced player.
Himmelburg. 6th year player. That's experienced despite games played.
Sholl. 4th year player. See Jones comments.
Doedee. Experienced player.
Butts. 4th year player.
ROB. Experienced.
Gollant. Inexperienced.

The only "kids" this week will be Rachele and Gollant.
Relative inexperienced players Butts, Sholl, Jones, McHenry, Rowe and Schoenberg, but players well on their way.
That's only just over a third of the side.
The rest are mature bodied players who have played a decent amount at either AFL or second tier level.

Lost interest when you said 4th year players couldn’t be classified as young anymore, there is no point debating this further if that is your stance.

And we'll still be the youngest and least experienced team in the league.

Goes to show how much we burned down.

(As a quick aside, including Fogarty and McPherson in this list completely ruins any point about not being able to count 4th year prospects).

Really enjoyed Gollant's game last week. It meant a lot that he and Berg could deliver in such a big game.

The youngest 22 in comp doesn’t look like a rebuild ?

Doesn’t really make sense

Haha pretty much what I think about the situation but point taken

Jones is running out of chances too
The fact that their stats are so similar says enough, Jones doesn’t get enough ball and fog not enough goals.

Nah Murray is far to "see ball, hit ball" type right now

I arrived early last Friday to watch the Twos. In the first quarter Thilly looked all over the place. About halfway through the quarter he won a contest and you could see his confidence rise. He continued to improve BUT I would like to see him do it against the Roosters so he is cherry ripe when he returns. His two preseason and round one games were very ordinary

I said before the first match that we shouldn’t pick underdone players who have missed a chunk of the preseason due to injury. Nicksy immediately
1)selected Milera in round 1 (bad move).
2)Dawson and Crouch struggled in the first half against Freo but it was probably best to play them.
3)Similar story with Hinge and Doedee
4) Bringing in Murphy looked a terrible idea until just before halftime on Friday night but his second half was excellent.
5) Imho playing Hamill in the Twos has enabled him to regain confidence.

Tex is a bit different. He is as fit as he can get and dominating a Rooster midget is pointless.

We've had some pretty mediocre SANFL teams running around the last couple of years

Should have no supply issues this week

He has now completely run out of excuses.

He never dominated at SANFL because our SANFL team was full of donkeys.

He didn't succeed in 2021 because of our shitty I50 entries from our midfield.
Well - the forward entries didn't hamper Taylor Walker who kicked 48 goals from 17 games. Yeah but you can't compare FOG to one of the best forwards in the league - plus he was starved for opportunities because everything was going to Tex - 2022 will be different.

Now in 2022 after 3 absolutely terrible games - we are hearing - He has struggled because he has been taking the oppositions #1 defender - he will be better once Tex comes back in to free him up.

Now he heads to the SANFL to play in a pretty much full strength SANFL side, considering our only unavailable player on our entire list will be Seedsman.

If he has an average game this weekend, what will the excuse for Darcy "Gilded Lily" Fogarty be?

Port traded up to get the picks where the players they wanted were likely to be.

Choosing to stay put in your current draft slot is part of the choice.

If you choose to stay where you are it’s hard to complain about what was available to you where you were
Now it's upto Berg to make the most of it.

History suggests he won't, and he'll have RT breathing down his neck if he performs well on the weekend

That game gives him a lot of breathing space. Especially seeing TT had already been dropped ahead of him. Berg has Billy level weeks up his sleeve.

Not the move I'd make, but it isn't surprising.

I am sceptical anyone can come into an AFL side in round 4 without playing a game and perform at a solid level, as I doubt training is a viable substitute.

Yep, in a rebuild, one tune up in the SANFL would be the smart call. But 4 points this weekend is the singular focus, it’s a club ethos.

Wait until you find out what happens Round 1 every year.

Except every player is in the same boat in round 1. It’s why he specifically mentioned being a few games in. Most of the league has a couple of preseason games and 3 games for points under their belts. It was sissy’s going to happen, it’s just a bad selection decision. Like Sloane the previous week.
