Wait till you hear Dawson played none of em cause of injury, but still played round 1.
Article on AFC.com doesn't suggest that Sloane is right to go and has a few more boxes to tick, we should just continue to rest him for another week.
I don't think there's any chance at all that TT plays this week. I think you've missed the point I was making - probably fair enough, given that my previous post was a poorly written ramble.
Ciao Giacomo's post was full of "Tex over Fog is an easy decision". I was pondering a slightly different question - what they would/could/should have done, if they decided to bring Tex back via the SANFL (given his lack of match fitness)?
CG said that we would be done for tanking if we selected Fog ahead of Walker, and it's hard to disagree with that statement. But would we still have been candidates for tanking accusations if we'd selected TT, ahead of both Walker (gaining match fitness in the SANFL) and Fog (woefully out of form & lacking confidence)?
Not too well though. Very poor in the first half, dumped from the midfield but got a bit better off half back in the second half. You going to post a point that supports your view anytime soon?
If (and it's a big IF) Dawson's quiet first half was from a lack of fitness/preparation, not having played before that game, wouldn't he have played worse in the second half as he ran out of puff?1) Not too well though. Very poor in the first half, dumped from the midfield but 2) got a bit better off half back in the second half.
"Perfectly fit" might be an exaggeration (we don't know) but I support Tex's inclusion.... The point is quite simple. Tex is in great shape, didn't miss through injury, has had 6 months to get fit and is coming off a very very good season last year. This isn't somebody who hasn't played much footy over the past two seasons. He knew he wouldn't be eligible to play until round 4 so you would imagine the fitness staff and club has planned accordingly. He has played 220 games, so I doubt missing the first 3 is a major calamity.
Personally considering he is replacing FOG who has been terrible, I just can't see any reason to give him a week in the SANFL? He automatically makes us a better side, his leadership is crucial to the youngest side in the competition and he is perfectly fit.
It was a mistake not changing the captaincy. He can't be dropped now regardless of his form. The club isn't going down the Coniglio path.Nah, gotta get him him, can’t win without skip.
Our issue in round 1 was carrying too many underdone & new players. Dawson & Milera underdone. Soligo & Rachele new. Further we had many recovering from recent covid. So he had a poor first half - so he should have spent a week in the SANFL? Is that your thinking?
Dawson was instrumental in our 3rd quarter comeback.
Same as Murphy - had a stellar second half - should we have brought him back through the 2's? Hadn't played a game since August of last year.
And the key difference here, is that these players still performed coming off an injury.

Milera's selection was a reward for the hard work he'd done in his injury rehabilitation. He hadn't played in 2 years, so they wanted to reward him for his hard work over that time. Milera should not have played which they agreed in hindsight dropping him.
If they wanted to reward Milera then Soligo should not have been picked ahead of the likes of Berry.Milera's selection was a reward for the hard work he'd done in his injury rehabilitation. ** Deliberately selecting him, despite knowing that he was underdone, definitely contributed to the loss. No argument there.

SANFL trial match. You would hope we would be able to replicate that intensity at training. Especially with the universes greatest training professional.
And we'll still be the youngest and least experienced team in the league.
Goes to show how much we burned down.
(As a quick aside, including Fogarty and McPherson in this list completely ruins any point about not being able to count 4th year prospects).

When did they say it was a reward?
Do you believe everything you read?
They took a gamble, it didn’t work and they rolled out this reward spin for the gullible to lap up
I'm not savvy enough to find the stat - but I think the post was referring to this week's game if both Walker and Sloane are selected - we may be the youngest list however going on this predicted team for this week we would be playing everyone over the age of 25 on that list[except Milera, Seedsman}so not sure if this selected side is still the youngest average playing this weekend
My argument would be if we are in a rebuild are there options to play a younger guy that is on our list to give them a crack?
Berry - Sloane
Pedlar - Crouch
RT - Frampton/Walker
Hamill
He is a better loose man than one on one defender.People are being a bit harsh on Billy, Marshall got goals from a 50 that wasn't Billy's fault, and a throw in the goal square when Billy was on Geordiades at the time and Doedee was actually on Marshall. Billy was only beaten twice and that was because there was zero pressure from midfield, no defender would have been able to contend with those two entries.
He's only just started his defensive career, I'll take Billy's ability with ball in hand over a turnover merchant. If it means every now and then he gets beaten on a lead.
The first quarter he took a ripping defensive contested mark.

Yes I thought the same when Fox Footy posted it.What a dishonest headline.
It was Gerard Big Nose Whateley who said that.
Probably a bit to do with playing in a new team and working things out.Not too well though. Very poor in the first half, dumped from the midfield but got a bit better off half back in the second half. You going to post a point that supports your view anytime soon?
Of course they will. Listen to ANY interview VB gives - it's all about experience. That's all that matters. Not performance, not the future, nothing but experience. We had our best midfield game last week in about 5 years.
With Sloane out and Schoenberg attending the most CBAs. The balance was pretty good.
Now they will upset that by bringing in Sloaney?
He should play mainly as a forward if he comes back.
