I'd like to see Duggan play on ball. Thought he was one of the few to show some actual desire last night.

Kelly can spend a game on the wing/flanks.

I don't like Shuey on the HBF. Chesser would be better sent there. He used to be a genuine goalkicker. HFF please.

Sheed can take Gaff's wing position.

A bit more creativity with the midfield mix would be good.

Sheed to the half back line 🤦‍♂️.
If you were a half forward and Sheed lined up on you, you’d be thinking how many goals will I kick today, how easy is AFL.

As opposed to Isaac Heeney yesterday who wasnt thinking that already :D

Im thinking also if a half forward wants to try and outpace Sheed, thats great. Just drags a forward out of the 50. If im Sheed id just let the guy run up the ground and try to read the play and cut it off afterwards.

Hopefully Gov can be fit but doubt it.

Hurn back helps a bit

TB 2nd up will be better.

Saints still by 10 goals + but hopefully a better effort all round.

I just heard via an ex-player that Gov’s actually pinged his other hammy and will be out for much more than an extra week.

I think the "he is too slow for HBF" is a bit of a 2018 concept and before the 6-6-6 thing came into place

Look at a guy like Dyson Heppell. A good midfielder in his prime but slow as a snail who has in the past few years moved to HB in order to hide his lack of pace and let him impact the game a bit more by foot with his short passes

I dont see too much difference in the 2 other then that Heppell was the better footballer overall and still is, but its the same concept I feel

Ok that’s fine but what happens when the forward is running back to goals and Sheed has to chase him like Warner yesterday.
Sheed is still getting credits for 2018 you don’t want him on the side now when young guys have to learn from the senior players. We’ll have everyone plodding around pointing and not doing anything else but pick up cheap nothing possessions.

He needs to use his football smarts and experience in that case to get himself into a dangerous position as a spare down back in that situation.

Its a bigger issue the other way though. Im more concerned of a what happens when a midfielder runs untouched and under no pressure in the midfield and is ready to deliver a pass into the forward 50 as opposed to a smallish type flanker running deep into the square unopposed. I think the first problem is our true issue right now. Lack of defensive pressure from the midfield creates mess all the way down the ground

I agree with this that’s why you can’t have one of the worse offenders moved to the backline. One of Sheeds tackles yesterday I think in the second quarter, trying to block yesterday out, was only because the Sydney player ran into him.
If Sheed had quicker decision making, maybe he could play half back line.

It’s good to have differing opinions on players, so I can see how coaches see different things to us plebs.

Unfortunately our guys are as slow in decision making as they are in leg speed.
A severe lack of options whenever our guys get the ball, we just sort of give it to the nearest bloke even though his opponent is right on him.

Kelly often gets the ball running and has nothing on offer.

How many tackle do HBF actually make? Its the place you least need that skil so thats why he should be there. He cant be dropped unfortunately so this is the least of the crappy optionms I think

It will be interesting to see if Gaff is dropped now.

With better availability, there's no need to have him in the team as a mature body.

If he survives, this is the first test to see if Simpson is fair dinkum or if he's the credits coach he is alleged to be.

There are no more excuses to keep him in the team.

The real world just rang - the cupboard is bare - drop Gaff and play with a reduced team size.
