I reckon Treacy averages more goals playing as the ruck tbh (3 against Brissy, 4 against Richmond, both spring to mind)

This isn't without Treacy, this is with Treacy rucking for part of the game
Voss second ruck over Treacy, Treacy is too valuable up forward. Tell Voss to compete, a la Lachie Keefe against Max last week. That's all we need from the 2nd ruck.

Hey Freo fans how far off is Bolton?

I'm one in the camp of win-win situation that he left, no hard feelings for me, and I wanna see the Dockers do well, so very interested to follow his progress with you.

For mine, he's a midfielder that should rest forward rather than the other way around, he basically carried our midfield in 2020 when Edwards and Prestia stayed behind in VIC, and Cotchin got injured. I'm assuming you'll play him as a forward/mid though given you're stacked for talent in the centre?

Treacy is most valuable where the footy is

Amiss and Voss can be the big dogs for 5 mins a quarter when treacy is rucking

Putting Treacy in the ruck would be like offering one of our most important players to the opposition to jump and put a knee into from one of their least impact players.

If Treacy is taking contested marks for fun out there, they will try and remove him from the game with a flying knee.

Putting him in the ruck just seems like asking for trouble.

Mind you he was also considerably shite during ports finals series
Port delisted two players that played for them in that finals series.

Their bottom six was genuinely holding them back despite a strong top end.

Narkle is the type that plays five games tops if your list (not just your top 5-6) is much good. TBF I'm not sure if expect much more than that from him. Shouldn't be in the frame except for the occasional sub appearance once the best 22 boys return.

Apparently as soon as this week - mind you if we keep playing this chip chip around the backline then launch into a hot potato handball chain... doubt it's getting anywhere near Bolton.

Fringe players struggle normally, with out a preseason they will drop a level. The best we can hope from Narkle is to be a solid player and hope some small forwards come back soon.
With injuries atm I think being a player that can play small forward and play it slightly above WAFL standard gets him a game tbh.

Obviously not ideal but building a list with 4-5 AFL capable small/medium forwards probably isn't realistic if you want to have much depth elsewhere on your list.

I suppose we shouldn't put Jackson in the ruck either then?

Wouldn't want to risk Darcy in the ruck when he gets back either...

I'll kindly refer you to the Carlton game where Sean Darcy raised a knee in the first contest against Pittonett and ruled him out of footy for months.

Darcy's primary influence in the side is in the ruck, it's not outside of it. Similar to Jackson, their primary influence is on ball.

Treacy's best work is not there. Putting him there adds significant risk to a key part of our structure.

No more risk than playing Darcy or Jackson there, both are significant to our key structures

I'd prefer to field the best team that could win, not try to preemptively avoid injuries

Treacy has performed very well as a fwd/ruck in the past, we played Reidy in that role last week and it was a massive downgrade, lets put Treacy there and start winning games.

agree. He just needs to hold the fort, until reinforcements come.

Treacy injured costs us our best forward and the ruck role he is shoe horned into.

As you saw end of last year, we need either the tall defenders spoiling the long kicks, or our own talls taking those marks to win. Treacy is critical to us in the marks department.

Throw someone else at the ruck. I don't want to drive my ferrari on the beach.

I don't see what Treacy does in the ruck that Voss can't do - they're similar heights, similar builds and Treacy is a better forward, so throw Pat in there, ask him to compete whenever Jacko needs a spell. Blokes a competitor too, he would relish it.

Why are you assuming he is going to be injured, thats the issue

Don't go into a game assuming a player will get injured

Go into a game picking the best team to win

Yeah,

Aish down the pecking order

Weird that guys can suddenly jump him without actually doing anything to jump him. I'm looking at you Karl Worner.
