We had our annual post bye loss after beating Richmond by ten goals and we're in a "mini rut" how do you reach that conclusion Dubs?
Easy. We threw a lot into that game, yet had a shocking first quarter, and last quarter was say so.
After the week off, we were flatter. Only natural to have lost that momentum, thereby a rut. It's mini if we win this week, if not, it's not so mini.

Clearly I don’t speak Geelongish

“nothing scientific, just unknown, new guy replacement types who we have written off have hurt us before. can't recall who ATM but some midfielders, a year or so ago, really carved us up in one game we were expected to win fairly easily. of course, they could bring in some absolute spuds.
we know how Lynch and Jenkins play, they aren't quick and we can cover them.“
I'd suggest maybe you need to go back and actually read the quotes and all then... Or you have a poster on ignore and that is throwing you off... As in the post you are taking great issue with, they are actually quoting another post saying Jenkins and Lynch aren't in..

So Sav was touch and go for last week and now he's out for the foreseeable future with a setback? WTF Geelong?

In: Fog and Smith
Out: Rohan and Fort

Simple. Replace pressure forward with another pressure forward who must be chomping at the bit to get back in the side. And drop a ruck who is clearly not up to AFL standards with a slightly more competent one because we don't have many other options (Abbott, Buzza). I wouldn't be opposed to Krueger coming in either but that leaves us with no other rucks.

Geelong medicos screw it up again:

"Ratugolea also won’t take the field after some confidence earlier in the week.

“The one that will be a surprise to everyone and a disappointment to Geelong fans is that Esava Ratugolea won’t be ready,” Scott said.

“Again, it’s a surprise to us but if Gary Rohan’s in that cautious subgroup then Esava Ratugolea’s clearly in it as well.

“I’m not really in a position where I can give a clear indication as to when he will play.

“Certainly not this week, there’s a fair chance it won’t be next week as well.”

What the actual f*ck? How can he go from being pretty much available, to saying he won't play this week, and probably won't play next week? Getting sick of this sh*t.

Gee there's some real hot takes on here currently.

One loss by two goals, after a bye too, and the wheels have fallen off...

You want me to read the entire thread?

“We can cover them”
Normally used in the present or future tense -“ can”
🤣
Seriously ...........

Considering you didn't read that post properly, I'd suggest you're incapable of doing it anyway.

If some people bothered to do some research before screaming the sky is falling they would know that he had a setback. It's not misdirection from the club. He was ready and re-injured his hamstring.

Which means he was mismanaged by the clubs medicos...just like every other bloody player that gets injured at our club.

People are hilarious with their outrageous expectations. Can players not have setbacks anymore. If you followed it appropriately you would know he had an injury setback. Nothing the club can do about that. IT HAPPENS!!!

How do you know if there was any difference between this setback and someone doing it for the first time this week in a game. If that happens is that the clubs fault as well. What do you people expect! Stop being crazy people.

You keep saying 'if you followed it'...I linked the article, lol. Quite clearly, I'm following it.

There's a reason why Linc wanted to go to Brisbane, and it has a lot to do with the fact that he's played all 13 games this year. Something he could never achieve with us.

Did you hear what Scott said about Menegola in his presser? That 'they cleared out a bit more of his knee than they would have liked, so it's been a longer recovery time.' How do you clear out more of the knee during a 'routine procedure'?

I've said it for years, there is something seriously wrong with our medical program. The amount of players who get injured and never recover, from seemingly innocuous things, is pretty ridiculous when you look at it over the last decade.

What possible basis do you have for that statement. You do understand that players get injured even with the best possible injury management don't you?
You build up their loads accordingly, lol. We barely ever have a player return from injury on time; especially soft tissue injuries

Ratugolea was never going to be ready after the bye, yet they obviously loaded him too heavily, which led to re-injury. A standard hammy is 3 weeks minimum, not the 2 that the club was stating it should be. Now it could be another 4-5 weeks, or worse if it's more serious. That's poor management, not an accident.

If he returns within 4 weeks, then I'll eat my words. Until then, this is just another in a long line of bad Geelong medical decisions, IMO

Do you think the club docs did the procedure on Menegola? isn’t that unlikely?

I would think they'd be involved though, wouldn't they? In terms of advisement of injury via scans, what the best course of action is for that specific player etc.

What rubbish have you forgotten Scott had him ready to play against Port, two weeks for a hamstring it was never going to happen and I was probable the only one here to call it out and copped but Scott said so. Some of you blokes are so gullible. the club releases what the club want's to release and that's not always the truth nor should it be .

Did you even read his post? He's talking about the danger of unknown players vs the fact that we would at least know how Lynch & Jenkins play.

Seriously .......🙄
cheers oh lord of Mordor :)

I get to work, read that, and WTF? Looking forward to having more intelligent conversations with my 2nd and 3rd grade students later.

Yep- am sure our drs gave their reports but the surgeons go in and have a look and make decisions on what they see I am presuming. I have some reservations about our medicos but doubt even I can hold this one against them.

Gregson is a perfect example of the current coach continually picking a bloke who was clearly not good enough - and it cost Geel games - the Haw game being a good example - i think there is a bit of relevance their to Darcy Fort !!- will he drop him - or will he continue to play him - and find out hes not up to scratch

Re the Swans and Bulldogs - take your Blue and White meshed goggles off for a minute mte - the Swans kicked inaccurately - most keen observers would acknowledge that fact . And correct me if im wrong - but wernt the Bulldogs within 8 pts early in the last qtr - then got blown away - the Dogs had plenty of the ball that day - but their forwardline was hopeless
OK. Not the way I would look at things, but carry on.
On Fort, surely the only way to tell whether is good enough or not is to play him?
Like you, I'm not convinced, but he has scored goals in both games.
I'm happy to see if Buzza is up to scratch too. Or Kreuger.
We won't know what our depth is until these blokes get a fair go.

Fort didn't play very well, but apart from Ablett he was our only forward who even looked like firing a shot last week.
I would expect him to play again.
The question is whether they replace Rohan with Krueger or Parsons.

Fred ..im sure both of us have seen a lot of players with a range of different personalities. Some have egos so big and full of hot air , its a task to stop them floating away.. certainly being comfortable being in the best22 is no problem.. and then others who taken a while and need to feel apart of the group.. .not everyone plays at their best under the duress of selection pressure.

Fort ? I dont know.. I feel he has more to give but im not sure how much more ..guys with exceedinly high natural talent show glimpes here or there...even if he had flown over a pack and fluffed the marks ..we perhaps would have more confidence in him... but I do think with some faith he has more to give. The issue is others also need to show what they have to give as well. This is not the Salvo's.. and while he has kicked goals ..goals alone these days are far from the distinguishing stat they once were.

The concern I have is he should be showing more vertical in the centre bounce and in marking. Everyone has a tall guy..this is the AFL ..and perhaps without that athleticism his tenure will always be fraught trepidation and the overlook of the temporary .. because the way he is getting the goals atm..looks underwhelming.

If the club are happy ..I think he probably gets selected again... but unless he can take some strong marks ..I feel he is only solidifying peoples opinions..
and the form Buzza has shown ..i feel they guy probably deserves another shot. The selection will be a reasonable indictor on if the clubs agrees with that.

Krueger or Parsons.... ? I know who Id like to see...
Krueger really looks a good prospect..and one feels it just a matter of time. First year on the list ..a non selection could well be looked at as being careful.. but we have played Clark so why not be brave ..release the Flying Monkeys and give the kid a big Friday Night debut. Be an exciting addition to a big Fri night at KP. And what if he fails.. well no probs..back to the twos and continue development... but something tells me this kid has .."IT"

I'm getting worried about Sav..... we NEED him fit and in form come finals.... it's already been 3 weeks, looks to stretch out to 5. This better not be a bloody Ottens 2 weeker!

I think thats the idea ... I thought he could have been rested earlier but they kept playing him.. Sounds like he pulled up sore after training.. so we just move into that long term thought process. CS says after Cockatoo Sav is the player they will protect the most...
